Timothy Gold Hay, 5Lb, Blue

This review is based on using this with my two dwarf bunnies. I was a bit hesitant to leave a large quantity of hay in it's original packaging - plastic bag inside a box. However, this hay keeps fresh for months and all strands are still nice and green inside compared to oxbow which had lots of brown strands. This hay is also much softer than Oxbow (much easier on my hands as I've gotten cuts from Oxbow's hay) and but the dust within my package at the bottom is similar to that of Oxbow. The hay is very compressed which allows me to put more hay in my hay box without many stay pieces of hay flying around. This is a huge plus; I don't have to fill up the box as often and less cleaning. The original plastic bag is thin and easily torn. My bunnies easily nibbled little holes in it, poked holes in the bag with their nails, as well as having a hole from opening the package. I do not leave this out for them to do this and is only from the short time that it takes for me to fill up their hay box. The plastic bag is also much more crinkly than Oxbow which attracts the bunnies even more. Not sure if this is good or not =).

My buns, Hugz & Snugz LOVEEEEEE this particular hay.....it lasted long and they gobbled it up.....only thing I didn't like was the crumbles of hay at the bottom BUTTTTTT you'll have that with ANY hay you get.....I will most DEFINITELY purchase this again. The hay I received was very green & fragrant and not dry and brittle like most hays you buy in the store.....I found getting a kitty/dog food container the BEST place to store the hay as it locks in its flavor, smell and prevents it from smelling & feeling stale. I tried the yellow high fiber timothy hay & the oat hay.....yeahhhhhhh my buns don't care for it so it looks like I need to order this ASAP!!!!

I have tried a few brands of hay in the past, and until I saw and smelled this one, I didn't know hay could be this good. It was a refreshingly green color and very soft. It smelled like it just got cut off the field and made my downstairs smell like a lovely farm :) The quality waaay surpasses the competitors. It is in full grass form with almost no stalks. It is in a de-compacted form so reaching in and grabbing a handful doesn't mean you have to rip and tear some away making a mess all over your floor. It comes in a white box, in a clear bag, with one of those ties that come on bread. This apparently really helps keep it fresh. Don't get rid of the box, keep it in there. The way the hay is layered in there really helps with the feeding process. And unlike the other brands, this stuff made my bunny run to it like she does to a bowlful of veggies. As soon as I put it in her hay rack, she goes right for it. And there is significantly less of the inedible stuff on the floor of her cage. The verdict? A wonderful hay that is way worth the price and the wait. Forget about the stuff in the pet store and make this your go-to brand.

This is probably the highest-quality timothy hay I've found for my guinea pigs (it's soft but not too soft, and has a good grassy aroma), but on the past two orders, the hay has been compressed into a bag that takes up perhaps half the size of the box (whereas it previously took up more or less the whole thing). The result is that there's a lot more chaff - and, while I haven't weighed the boxes, I'm really not sure they actually contain 5 lbs of hay anymore (it could just be the greater amount of chaff, but my guinea pigs seem to go through a box in half the time that they used to, i.e. they finish it in two weeks rather than four). Really frustrating - I'm going to look for another vendor for my next order.

I used to have a pet rabbit, as a child had a pony and also worked on a horse farm most summers as a teenager. Granted, usually horses get alfalfa or brome hay. Anyhow, I've bought bagged hay for tiny critters and I've thrown (small bales) baled hay. When I opened the box this came in and then the bag I was absolutely amazed. This is some of the best smelling dried stuff I've ever seen sold for pets. Wonderfully sweet fragrance (kind of like when you get really good leaf tea), big whole pieces, not chopped... our guinea pig goes nuts for the stuff and I don't blame him. I just had to buy more guinea pig food (the pellet stuff) and I decided to be sure I could find the hay again - finally ended up going back to my purchase history to be sure I found it and put it on my shopping list to keep it as my regular purchase for Fezzik. This stuff is pricey, but it's great. I think I'll probably go through five pounds every two months or close to that. We still have almost half the box. It smelled so good and was such high quality, though, I wanted to be sure I didn't "lose track" of what I had ordered previously. Definitely recommend.

I am not normally not someone who feels compelled to write a product review, but this is a product we have regularly ordered for our rabbits for the past few years and enjoyed very much... until recently. The most recent orders we have been receiving have come in different packaging and are of dramatically lower quality. Their are pictures of both "variants" of this product at the top of the page: - the larger rectangular white box is the high quality hay that we have been regularly receiving for a long time - the narrower brown box has started coming recently and is of much lower quality (hay is highly compressed which makes it harder to deal with, very finely ground/chopped which makes a huge mess, and doesn't seem to be enjoyed as much by the rabbits) Until this product returns the high quality we have come to expect I must rate it 2/5: the inconsistency is unacceptable. Either provide a way to select the "high quality" variant or I will have to start shopping around for alternatives

I have been buying this for years, but starting from 2014 the quality has SIGNIFICANTLY dropped, it's now much more dusty, brown, short and just over all inedible. Review update (7/4/14): I dropped 3 stars from the product because of 2 reasons: 1. The price hike, it used to be about $17, to $26, now $33 2. The quality of the hay has significantly dropped, it no longer look like the hay in my video anymore; more often than not, it's dusty, many brown, short pieces, and also quit moist; it almost looks like you get the scraps of hay. After nearly 3 years of buying this hay I became quite disappointed with this product since about 6 months, yes the prime delivery is amazing, but the quality and the price just does not match up. The strange thing is, if you buy it straight from americanpetdiner.com (I usually get the 25 lb gold timothy), the quality is really fantastic, like how this 5lb one used to be. The 25lb box's price is ok ($54) but shipping is hefty (about $38), totaling $92, and it always takes 10+ days to arrive; the cost & inconvenience really adds up, we often run out of hay before the big box arrive & end up buying bad quality hay from pet stores. I started to find other places to order hay, fresh, affordable & fast shipping are my priorities, please leave me a comment if you have good recommendations. Thanks.

This is the best hay for rabbits. Our local veterinary college recommended this brand. I had tried several brands from the local Petsmart, but this brand beats them all. There is almost no hard stems in it, it is nearly all grass blades, and they are really GREEN and smell like fresh mown grass. My rabbit eats every single bit, even if it falls out of the hay feeder! The 5 pound box is packed tight with hay, and it is bagged in plastic inside the box for freshness. Five pounds lasts about 2 months for my medium sized rabbit (it is her main diet, supplemented by a few pellets). The hay is chopped into about 4 inch lengths. I prefer longer lengths as they don't fall out of the hay feeder as easily, but that's the only problem I have with this hay. I have ordered it direct from American Pet, but with Amazon Prime I don't pay shipping.

いつも680gの小分けの方を買っていて、今回初めてこちらを買いました。 680gの小分けの方は、葉っぱが全体的に崩れて細かい印象で、こちらは長い葉っぱが多い印象です。小分けしない分、崩れない…と言う事でしょうか？(たまたまかも知れませんが) ウチのうさぎさんは、粉っぽくても食べるので小分けの方でも大丈夫なのですが、コスパがいいので、今後はこちらにしようかと思います。 発送は、特に問題なく他の商品同様、早く到着しました。 追記:前回購入時は、4000円弱だったのでコスパがいいと思いましたが、定価に値上がる時は、小分けの方とコスパは少ししか変わらないので、どちらを買うか迷う所。

いつもは680gのものを買うのですが、下の方が粉だらけで1/3くらい捨てているので、もったいないので粉が少ないとネットで言われていたこちらを買いました。 680gのものより少し堅めで茎も多く入っていましたが、ウチの子はよく食べました。 ただ開けた時にはもう袋が破けていました。 これからは680gのものより繊維質が多そうなこちらを買いたいので袋が破けないよう改善してほしいです。

牧草的には、ウサギ達は、柔らかく嗜好性があり与え易いのですが 届くまでの日数がかなり掛かる為 不便です。日数が掛からなければ定期的に購入したいのですが⁉︎なので…質感的には星3個…日数的にマイナス星2個です。
