Shaun (Thomas Turgoose), Woody (Joe Gilgun), Lol (Vicky McClure) and the rest of the gang are back together and all looking for love, a laugh, a job and something that resembles a future. Set during the 1986 FIFA World Cup, This Is England 86 sees Shaun and his friends attempting to navigate life in Thatcher's Britain. With the gang back together after Combo's unspeakable act of violence, the future looks up - but they soon learn that the past always catches up with you, no matter how hard you try to forget. The events of This Is England 88 take place two years on, set in and around Christmas, there is a distinct absence of festive spirit as Lol and Woody struggle to come to terms with events from the past. Shaun, meanwhile, learns first-hand the pain that love can bring. This Is England 90 picks up the action in the spring of 1990, with some of the gang embracing the new decade with more gusto than others. Gazza's tears. Hubble's launch. Mandela's release. Review: A worthy Blu-Ray release of an outstanding series. - Most reviews cover the quality of the show itself so i shall quickly and briefly review the quality of this as a Blu Ray release. Firstly, the video quality is as superb as you'd expect. Throughout the series, skin tones seem to be very accurate and the colour palette in many scenes is as subdued and bleak as Shane Meadows and his D.O.P would of wanted. In '90 there are some particularly summery scenes which come off almost non-uniform to the rest of the show although this is not down to the quality of the video. The photography throughout the seasons looks incredible throughout! Audio quality is solid all the way through. The incredible soundtrack really shines through as it does in the original film too! Vocals are clean and well presented although in some scenes set indoors, vocals can sometimes sound slightly muffled by ambient sounds such as electrical humming, fans or air conditioning. This isn't necessarily a gripe though as i feel this only adds to the immersion and adds a certain "Dogme 95" feel to it. Surround Sound activity is limited due to the nature of the show however ambient sounds such as birdsong, wind and rain do bring the soundstage to life. Highly recommended! A nice continuation from the movie
Being from the US, I missed out on the series that followed the movie of the same name. This was a great follow-up to the characters of the film and how their lives progressed afterwards.

Tv at its best
A great series. Unfortunately one of the discs was loose in its case and a bit scratched, but fortunately still functioned.

Cela fait un moment que je recherchais un moyen de revoir et connaître la suite de cette série, que j’avais pu connaître grâce à OCS. Quand j’ai vu le coffret sur Amazon j’étais tellement contente. Cette série est juste superbe, c’est vrai qu’elle aborde des sujets assez sensibles et difficiles mais les acteurs ont fait un travail formidable. Je recommande

A series I love, reminds me of my childhoods. A group of mostly...'non racist' skinhead kids, friends in a group. Who gave personal issues at home, with each other, love triangles, good music, and great hair hehe. But the plots are perfect. One of my top faves. Try watching the movie FIRST THOUGH, it'll help to understand it.

Premessa: la serie non è doppiata in italiano, poco male perchè ritengo che questa piccola gemma debba essere goduta in lingua originale. Ho adorato il film e ho adorato la serie televisiva. Il film e la serie offrono uno spaccato crudo della vita della working class inglese a cavallo tra gli 80 e i 90. Le stagioni sono cadenzate sulla base di eventi calcistici in cui è coinvolta la nazionale inglese. Tali eventi fanno comunque solo da sfondo alle vicende che coinvolgono i vari protagonisti. I toni sono prevalentemente drammatici, ma a volte si riesce anche a ridere, seppur in modo amaro. Straordinaria la colonna sonora con tanti riferimenti alla scena musicale inglese dell'epoca e soprattutto, con le musiche di Ludovico Einaudi. Amazon perfetta come sempre nella consegna.
