Name brand Gesso's are nice, but are also expensive. I used to make my own to save money, but since I started using Handy Art Little Masters Gesso, it exceeded all my expectations in every way. I use a small foam paint roller to apply the gesso on my canvas, and it works great. Coverage is nice, it dries in a reasonable amount of time, and when sanding, it doesn't seem to generate excessive amounts of dust. I've found my forever gesso. You get a good amount of quality gesso at a very reasonable price. I'd just like to say thank you for that. It's really refreshing to come across a product like this, and I don't mind letting the world know.

Loved how this Gesso goes on smooth and dries quickly. It's thick, excellent quality and easy to paint on (even using colored pencils worked great). It looks like satin once it's try. Even consistency made it perfect for the multiple media projects I worked on. Applies well with a brush, sponge or roller. Quality is superb and the price is affordable. Highly recommend!

Good for the money. But I usually buy a different brand that has more body. Take longer to set up and dry than my usual brand too. Because it is more "fluid" (think stiff sugar icing) it is great for using in a piping bag to create thin lines. It is bright white in color and stains really well while wet, just stir in your color. It also paints well when dry. For the price it's great. Going to try mixing in some corn starch to see if I can get it thicker while keeping a smooth consistency. Probably could add salt and or sand to thicken it and give it a rough texture. Overall I think it is a good product.

Used this to paint a 8 foot by 4 foot panel so I could then paint a mural. Worked great. Would purchase again.

Great product and way cheaper than other stores

As a painter, artist and designer I can be picky about quality and value when it comes to the products I work with. This gesso is thick and well mixed right out of the gate. I didn't need to stir it before I used it and it went on clean and smooth. I was able to cover 6 canvases that measured 3' by 4-1/2' two time each on the front side only and there is still enough for one more it looks like. I recommend this product to artists of any level. I put it on a 24”X36” canvas. I put down 10 coats sanding between each. It cracked severely all of the way to the canvas. It might be good for smaller canvases or projects but I would not recommend it for larger projects and I myself will never ever buy this product again.

It's great and works well on wood.

I ama painter and the big size is mire cost effective for me.
