Cards are pretty but not durable because hand shuffling splits the cards because the card paper is thick; so flat on the table like tiles is a good way to shuffle. Color coding is great. Thirteen cards is a lot to hold so I suggest buying the wooden curved card holders for use as you would the tile holders and the game is much more enjoyable. The price of these cards has increased over 100% since I purchased my cards and now that I've nearly worn out the deck, I'm reluctant to purchase another set at double the price. I will when the cards are even more worn. My friends and I are enjoying the game.

I play Hong Kong mahjong. My bf’s mother plays American mahjong. We got this as a gift for her while she was in the hospital as it is much more portable than the tiles. The cards are typical nice quality playing cards, with an added touch of shiny gold along the edges. We played Hong Kong mahjong with her and it had everything we needed for it. It also comes with all the jokers and flowers you need for the American version. I could see that if someone didn’t know how to play already, the instructions may have been a little too basic, especially for the Hong Kong version. But since we already knew how to play, it was fine for us.

As an inexpensive introduction to Mahjong, the Winning Moves card set is... adequate. The book describing basic scoring is good, and the cards are nice enough. The gold glittery substance on the card edges has an annoying tendency to come off on hands during play, however. And that stuff sticks around.

These cards are beautiful. The deck has gold sides. The item description doesnt give the deck justice. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the cards looked and felt. I wish they made tiled sets with similar artwork. The dragon tiles actually depict dragons. The bamboo tile has a lovely peacock. The jokers are also nicely drawn and the flower tiles are wonderful.

Great set that is easier to use for friends with sight problems. It travels well and cannot be beat for the value.

I thought this would be like playing with tiles, no, it is really a card game........

excellent set for the price. like the gilded edges and the plastic card stand/holder. the rules differ significantly from the way I learned it, but I think that's to be expected, and you can just get the rules from somewhere else if you want.

Large, clear, & colorful print. My club members plan to order these as they are edged with gold & are really beautiful. I would not hesitate to repurchase. Every card is clearly represented.

Met all expectations, Only caveat to others is to carefully separate the cards as they tend to be found stuck together making it look like they are not all in the kit. They separate with a little coaxing by sliding and then they are okay.
