Have these chisels got some sort of plastic coating that you have to remove before use?

Hi - they don't have a plastic coating but they are greased at the factory to prevent rusting and ensure they remain sharp upon arrival.

How do you remove the protective coating on the chisels?

I saw a video on YouTube the guy used wd40 to remove oil on chisel and he used sand paper on Handel’s I believe but video was good hop it helps
