It should, but remember, Apple MagSafe devices is made to Apple’s specifications. OtterBox sells MagSafe accessories that should work, but OtterBox also have accessories sold on apple web site that also exclusively sold on apple website. The OtterBoxs sold on Apple web site works perfectly. Back to the rind, it works great with Apple certified MagSafe accessories.

Q: How strong is the magnet?

It depends Largely on the case, but if I use the embedded iPhone magnet (14 pro max) as reference, I would say 7.5/10. You can’t shake the phone while holding it solely from the ring , without detaching the ring

I don’t see why it wouldn’t, magnets can work underwater. Maybe experiment with your phone and magnetic device; submerge it in a bucket of water and see what happens before going to snorkel in any large area of water
