They have that certain something but won't break the bank!
These Mission LX2 Speakers represent a really good combination of performance and affordability - I can see why they won the What Hi-Fi 2016 Best Buy under £200 speaker category. These speakers measure 305mm high, 191mm wide and 250mm deep and weigh in at 5.2Kg each. Each unit features a rear bass ported design with a 130mm bass driver, 25mm dome tweeter and the impedance is 6 ohms. These are bookshelf speakers but will deliver optimum performance on stands and come with a five year warranty. Remember to use good quality speaker cable for your installation. The construction is exemplary, yes, the enclosure sides and back are wrapped MDF (or similar) but really dense and thick. The front panels are magnetic so the grilles can be fitted and removed without ugly press studs. The connections are strong and business-like but not bi-wired. Mission have broken with convention and inverted the bass/midrange and tweeter positioning with the tweeter at the bottom.Although stands are recommended, I used Fisual isolating feet to stand my LX2's on a wooden audio unit. I partnered the LX2's with a Marantz CR611 Network CD Receiver. Although the CR611 is packaged by many dealers with similar size/priced speakers I was wary that not many suggest the LX2s. My caution was unjustified as the LX2's seem a good match both in terms of sonics and price, you get a decent sounding, versatile audio system for £500 at current prices.I so like these Mission speakers and expect them to improve with use. My first impression is of a really wide stereo soundstage with realistic vocals/percussion and taut bass. The LX2's deliver on the basis of what is put into them rather than colouring the sound and accommodate a wide range of styles/inputs. I found positioning them around 8" from the wall optimises the bass response. Speaker quality is to an extent subjective, but what I'm saying is that these are very appealing units and you'll want to carry on listening to them. Some speakers impress initially but listening fatigue soon sets in.In summary, I can see why these are award winning speakers. The build and sound quality are really good for the price point plus they score highly in the likeability stakes - they have that something that will appeal to many people. Recommended.

The BEST in this price range.
Having listened to these along with their most obvious direct competition, the Q Acoustics 3020, i can safely say that these live up to the standard set of them by What HIFI's Best Under £200 speaker award. The bass is lovely and taught, explosive when it needs to be, and relaxed when it needs to be also, perhaps the more obvious improvement on these speakers is the bass and upper bass region in comparison to the Q Acoustics. They have a lesser tendency to be get boomy, and do not suffer from very particular room placement as i have experienced with the Q Acoustics. One thing i do think should be mentioned, these do not come with any kind of isolating rubber feet, and your speakers will be better for it by adding these, sets of which can be found for around £15 here on amazon.Paired with a Marantz PM5005 amplifier, the mids are lovely and smooth, never recessed or lacking, and the highs are crystal clear and chimy, and ring right through the lovely mid range with delicacy, an impressive complete package if I've ever heard one. They are rather large, significantly more so than the Q Acoustics, so it may be of note to those with limited space to keep this in mind.I am of the opinion that you would be very hard pressed to find anything better than these missions within this price range, perhaps even more. I you are in the market for an excellent set of bookshelf speakers that are not fussy with placement and can handle anything you throw at them, well, you're looking at them.

Well made product and quality.
I purchased because I needed 3rd pair for my surround system. The front has Bowers and Willkins and Wharedale speakers and The rear are foe Q Acoustic..They are strong and well made and finish is excellent. I bought some felt pads from amazon and stuck them to top.To save some money and for rear I bought some cheaper stands.Big mistake for £38They were rubbish.Thin tube ,no finish and marked.Missing parts.Went to send back immediately and found return to Luxembourg at own expense. You get what you pay for.I was a bit annoyed that a badge was missing on one of them. But would highly recommend.

Amazing audiophile sound at an affordable price
For everyone constantly asking on Amazon questions "will this fit my speaker" I have taken some photos To show the dimensions of the back bracket. Ideally it will fit any small to medium bookshelf speaker if the speaker has a screw hole on the back. As you can see the bracket is height adjustable so should fit most size speakers .I bought these to go with my new Denon 2600 av reciever for front right and left channels paired with a REL subwoofer and JBL control ones for rear surround. I’m not an audiophile but compared to my previous speakers these are far more clear and I can hear detail that I couldn’t before , they sound Incredible and have a wide sound stage. The highs and mids are incredible Do yourself a favour and get these . Amazing value of your on a modest budget . I read reviews that say they can compete with speakers three times their price. I’m really really happy.
