Gunship

Yesterday's future today
Gunship is the lost soundtrack for a generation brought up on a diet of 80s popular culture. Make no mistake, this album is the find of the year and is destined for cult status. Introduced to it via collaborator Martin Grech, this CD has been on a loop for days on end now; and I can scarcely see its appeal diminishing.I feel it's more than simply a homage to the oft-maligned decade, such is their authenticity that any of the tracks would not be out of place heard on a preppy high-school coming-of-age or a dystopian sci-fi flick. Boosting their 'cool' quotient further still they've managed to enlist the services of 80s legend John Carpenter on Tech Noir (possibly one of the finest tracks on the album to boot).Opening track The Mountain, with its pulsing synths and vocal arrangements, is guaranteed to put a nostalgic smile on your face. From there the album carries on in the same vein, though never feeling same-y, with track after track of effortless synth pop heaven. I guarantee that you will punch the air at least once after listening to this for the first time.My happiness will be complete should they announce any live UK dates. Neon glo-sticks a-go-go.

80's FOREVER!!!!
I'm not that great at writing reviews but I HAD to say how much I LOVE this album! GUNSHIP came outta nowhere and took me completely by surprise! I first saw that fantastic video for 'Fly for your Life' on Bloody Disgusting website and I was hooked! I have waited for this day ever since - the day that I would own this wonderful music on CD. Listening to these tracks is like being in a time-machine that takes me back to the greatest decade of all - the 1980's! If you are fan of the films of John Carpenter and other classics such as The Terminator, Robocop, Blade Runner and other such classic movies from the 80's, you MUST buy this album NOW! I reckon my favourite track is 'Shadow Fury' (the track you may recall from the 'teaser' video that featured short clips from Cobra. Aliens, Commando, The Goonies, Predator and so many other classic films) but once again, I must stress that EVERY SINGLE track in just pure, 80's-synth AWESOMENESS!! This is by far my album of 2015 and NOTHING can come close! 5 Stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A briliantly crafted synth pop homage to the 80s!
Gunship is very much for those who enjoy synth pop, simply put if you don't enjoy music that could have been ripped from an 80s action movie like a John Carpenter movie or Terminator, you probably won't enjoy it.The album art looks awesome and the album has a decent 14 tracks (3 of which are remixes but great remixes though). The standout for me on this release is definitely Tech Noir with John Carpenter on the intro monologue and Charlie Simpson on the catchy chorus and this track made me want a lot more of them both really! Charlie would have been an nice addition to the band!At times it does become quite familiar and samey but I think the production is very well done even though I think it would have been nice to have a bit of electric and bass guitar in there and a few more solos as well!

Feels just like when we were young
Took me a while but i got here eventually!! Some of Gunship's songs took a little while to grow on me, but now i'm 100% hooked. I play this album from start to finish, which i can't say about any other album released since 2000. It's a gorgeous blend of 80's style synths and drums, modern production and pop / dubstep rhythms. Dark at times but equally uplifting, a true masterpiece in my opinion

Sublime Album
What can I say about this album, I love it, after finding Gunship on youtube by accident I have watched all their videos and became an instant fan. A suggestion if you like the music watch the film The Turbo Kid, which features a Gunship song and is really fun. I always buy CD's if I get in to something there is nothing quite like blasting it out on a proper stereo, if you love 80's nostalgia and electro pop then this is the album for you, I just hope Amazon sell any albums they make in the future.

Synthtastic Bliss
Fresh, catchy, interesting and so so retro!!! Love the 80's character synth sound on this album. No fear though as this isnt a cheesy remake of those poppy one hit wonders. This is new, serious, engaging music!Being a nostalgia prone wrinkly I thought I'd test how good this album is and was pleased to see the nodding acknowledgement of my ten year old daughter.A drive time classic for me! Well produced, great songs and packed with ear worms.... When "Tech Noir" isn't playing on my CD player its playing in my head. If you can watch the video for "Fly for your life" do so its a visual and audio treat.100% recommended
