You've Got Mail [DVD] [1998]

Watched this after 20 years. Still wonderful!Delivery was on time. All good.

lovely little love story, nice to watch with a cup of cocoa, and a warm fire

The product description is great and the DVD I received is exactly as described (subtitles, extras). The film itself is a delightful romcom from the 90s, the decade when the genre really took off. It probably deserves to be called a classic by now. Meg Ryan, the queen of 90s romance, is supremely likable as the owner of the independent little bookshop, Tom Hanks is equally likable as her online love interest and offline business rival. Their online relationship through an exchange of emails in a chat room seems archaic only 20 years later, but it's a nice bit of nostalgia for those old enough to remember the days before social media.Yes, it's predictable, the story is contrived and the characters and their lifestyles are too good to be true, but hey, that's what you expect from this kind of a feelgood film, right? As romcoms go, this one is right up there with the best - the kind of film that will let you forget the worries of the day for a while and leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling. Definitely worth owning if you enjoy a bit of fluffy escapism.

This was the third film that Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks made together and their rapport is evident. This is one of the last truly romantic comedies where the couple stays out of the bed and our interest is held by the wit of the situation and dialogue. It's over twenty years ago, so a romance on line where the man and woman don't meet, with ensuing complications, seems dated , but there is a freshness about the situation and the actors keep up the suspense admirably. There's also a message, that the small businesses are being destroyed by the large, which we know now to be true. Nevertheless all ends happily, with a genuinely touching moment.

Nothing like as good as Sleepless.

Great film an olde classic very enjoyable to watch and perfect for all the family. A great feel good movie, great chemistry from the main characters. Love it, glad I now have it on dvd.

This is probably my second favourite film after Groundhog Day. There is nothing startlingly original about it, but it's so breezy and charming that doesn't matter. The dialogue is its great strength, from simple throwaway lines such as "Quelle nightmare!", to "You know, what's always fascinated me about Julius and Ethel Rosenberg is how old they looked when they were really just our age."Every single scene has its charms-- I suppose you could say that it's a fluffy movie, but there's no fluff.One might think the internet theme might make it dated, now that we are all online. But it doesn't really. It's just a great romantic comedy, aside from the internet chat room gimmick. Meg Ryan is adorable, Tom Hanks is adorable, everybody is adorable. There's nothing I don't like about this movie. It's both streetwise AND sentimental, and that's a rare combination. I definitely recommend it. It's the kind of film you can enjoy even if it's just on in the background. And the music is delightful from beginning to end.

This is one of my top favourite films, I have to watch it a few times a year. If you love the charm of Tom Hanks it is a lovely easy film to watch with great music throughout. I would certainly recommend it. It is perfect for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. It is also a good film for showing New York throughout the seasons, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring etc. Tom Hanks and Megan Ryan are perfectly cast together and the rest of the cast add to the story. If you love Sleepless in Seattle it is a perfect partner. It's one of those films that if you love it you wish to could find more of the same to watch.

There are two movies that need to be seen by old timers such as I. It puts a smile on your face. Be sure to buy or rent "Sleepless In Seattle. Great couple of movies just for us over the hill group.

Would not play in Canadian dvd player :(

Bella la copertina ma la qualità lasciava a desiderare, penso fosse originale degli anni novanta; fatto il reso e comprata una versione più recente. Peccato perché qui la copertina era più bella. Ottimo film, un classico.

Why Wait, Just Watch every day. Maybe I don't be I think that my honey and I are so much like this and we love it. No matter how matter times we watch. So ... just do it!!!!

I have never heard of different regions for dvd's or anything else. Any body that I 've asked has never of REGIONS for buying a dvd. This should be made in larger print on your ads that it will only play in a certain part of the world.
