I ordered several sleep masks to test for a long-haul flight that I always wish I could sleep better during. As a completely bald individual, I'm sensitive to the slightest discomfort with these masks and this one felt great. I always sleep on my side on airplanes lie-flat seats but just as comfortable on my back. Happy to say I've gotten the best sleep ever on this last trip, in part thanks to this mask. The masks they give you on the airplane are tight and scratchy. I love the stretchy fabric on the outside of this mask which is much more cooling than the others I tried, including the silk ones, and is slick enough to not collect dust and debris. The cutouts for eyes are perfect as well. I also like that the fabric goes further around the side of the mask - other brands have the elastic start around your temples but the fact that the elastic here doesn't start until just BEHIND your ears is a game-changer in terms of comfort. I also liked that the elastic itself was not scratchy and the adjustment clip is low profile and not metal. I paired this mask with the Loop Quiet Ear Plugs and it was a great combo that let me sleep for the maximum time possible on the flight. In terms of care, what's in the box and what's online give different directions. Online says machine-wash is OK, but the box says hand-wash only. I washed it on Delicates in a laundry bag in my washing machine and it took about 24 hours to air-dry to my satisfaction (you can run a no-heat cycle in your dryer, didn't seem to harm it at all but gets air moving more quickly). Hopefully this treatment over time does not degrade the product. I returned other popular masks and here is how they fell short by comparison: * Mzoo: Not nearly as comfortable of material the outer material on this one and much scratchier elastic bands * iCooBreeze Silk Eye Mask: I liked the concept of a wrapa-around mask because theres no elastic, but the nose cutout was far too shallow for human beings so this didn't fit at all * Litbear Silk Sleep Mask: A much better fit than the iCooBreeze, but after 5 minutes of testing it, I could already feel my face/head getting hot.

So, I have a short forehead, a tiny nose, and really sensitive ears. I have tried at least 10 different types of masks, but they all are either too tall on my forehead that they practically sick up over the top of my head, or they cover my nose to the point that they stick out over my nose. ALL of them have had that metal buckle that sits on the temple or right at my ear. That hurts! One mask had the metal closer to the back of the head, but the fabric that went over the ears was padded, and that put extra pressure on my ears and hurt. The other masks also slide around on my face, some even popping off my head during the night, because I'm a side sleeper and the mask sticks so far away from my face and is slick. The last thing the other masks do is make my face sweat, no mater how "breathable" they say the fabric is. Well, it isn't breathable if its shiny and slick. THIS mask from Alaska Bear did non of those things! The fabric is soft, stretchy, and actually IS breathable. The elastic is thick yet soft. The buckle is in the back and you can't feel it when you sleep. The padding around the eyes is minimal, and my lashes kinda touch, but it's not bad. I wear it pretty loose and that helps. The fabric that covers your ears is thin and soft, so it doesn't bother sensitive ears. Also, this mask doesn't cause over stimulation on my face like the other masks do. If you have ADHD/ASD you know what I'm talking about. It blocks out the light almost 100%. The little bit of light that gets in is from around my tiny nose. My husband tried on my mask and said there was zero light leakage. I just ordered him his own Alaska Bear mask, because he jokingly said he's gonna use mine when he's asleep during the day. He works 3rd shift. Even though this mask is more expensive than any other mask I've tried, it's 100% worth the extra money. I've probably spent 5x the cost of this mask on other masks that cause me to wake up throughout the night to fix it. So, if you're on the fence because of price, just get it! You won't be sorry!

I have been trying to find a comfortable sleep mask / eye mask for weeks now and its been a surprising struggle to find one thats actually comfortable. I sleep on my side, and so many of the more expensive masks are just too bulky and press uncomfortably into your face, or push out of position. This mask is thin enough and soft enough that it stays un place when laying on your side, and the band remains wide and soft over your ears unlike so many others. It stays in place and you can barely feel that you have it on. I might have to buy a few more just so that I have spares in case they ever go out of stock!

So far this is the best sleep mask I’ve found for a restless side sleeper. It blocks 90% of the light and doesn’t move too much when I flip from one side to the other. The eye cups are lightly molded and very comfortable while laying on my side.
