The New Primer For Political Persuasion
Brilliantly reasoned and written, "Liberal For Conservative Reasons", takes the often-divisive and difficult political discussions of the day to a different, more productive place. Peter Rice takes on issues like "Global Warming/Climate Change" by changing the approach that is more easily digested by those with contrary views. As someone who's worked in and around politics most of my life, this book's overdue but timely. Rice deserves to be read and heard more, he's insightful and intelligent providing useful answers to current and complex issues. For example, getting caught in the crossfire of "global warming" where science is sometimes questioned and discounted, Rice urges a shift to minimizing "air pollution", something most can agree on and ultimately has the same net benefit without all the back-and-forth of agreeing whether or not "global warming" or "climate change" is a legitimate issue. Again, brilliant! It comes down to that age-old question of "would you rather be right or win"? In this case, Rice opts for winning by changing the conversation in a way that narrows the divide and creates a more productive political conversation. He does the same with healthcare, abortion, trade and several other topics...all with the "Liberal for Conservative Reason" approach. If you're running for office...read this!
