A really sharp, good knife for all uses.
This knife is marvellous. But be warned, it is very sharp. I had struggled with cutting up meat with my knives and realised I needed a new one. I am so pleased I chose this one. It also carved the turkey this Christmas. I can highoy recommend thus knife. Also it is very well priced.

Sharp from the box
The media could not be loaded. This knife is really smooth to use, it cuts great straight from the box, and is so easy to clean, it’s super easy to use.I find this knife is really quick to switch from vegetables to meat, or vice versa, because it’s “In one piece”, meaning there are no joins or seems for bits or juices to get into, so I can wipe it over knowing it’s clean.I find this to be a fairly well balanced knife, it doesn’t have to much weight to it anyway, but it is spread nicely between the handle and blade. The finish on the knife is very nice, not only does it look good, but it feels very smooth, with some wide channeling on the handle to give some grip. The branding id done subtly and nicely, it’s not in your face.My final thoughts on the “TANSUNG Japanese Santoku Knife, 7" Chef Knife, Professional Kitchen Knife German High Carbon Stainless Steel with Ergonomic Handle, Best for Home Kitchen and Restaurant, Gift Box”;Quality. =Very good (This is well made, from good quality materials)Aesthetic. =Good (Looks cool, but also professional)Utility. =Great (This has handled everything I’ve thrown at it, from steak to onion, to potatoes)Value. =Very Good (This is well priced in my opinion)Would I recommend the “TANSUNG Japanese Santoku Knife, 7" Chef Knife, Professional Kitchen Knife German High Carbon Stainless Steel with Ergonomic Handle, Best for Home Kitchen and Restaurant, Gift Box”?, I would “Yes”.

7” Santoku Knife
The media could not be loaded. The knife comes in a beautiful presentation box so would actually make a nice gift. The knife itself is made of carbon stainless steel and is attractive in design. The knife is well balanced and cuts well but as others have mentioned, the edge of the blade doesn’t run the full length. It cuts well through fruit, veg, fish and meat. This is a good addition to any kitchen.

Not bad for a budget knife
With some things in life you really do get what you pay for and knives are one of those things, and let's face it, £15.99 (at time of review) for a 7" stainless steel Santoku knife is definitely a budget price. The listing states "Japanese Santoku knife" and "German high carbon stainless steel". Whether deliberate or not the word Japanese could be considered a little misleading and lead one to believe the knife was made in Japan which is not accurate as it says Made in China on the packaging. I think it is pointing at the fact the Santoku knife design originated in Japan but worded to make the buyer assume they're getting a Japanese blade. As for the origin of the steel being Germany, I would have to question this as German steel, along with Japanese steel, is considered to be top notch. Only extended use will prove the accuracy of the statement and I may yet be surprised. The knife comes well packaged in a box which is "pretty" enough that it could be given as a gift. The knife itself looks very nice, has a bit of weight, and is pretty sharp straight out of the box but I like to spend a while on a stone and steel to make it my own. Once I'd honed the edge I wanted it was quite lovely to use and easily cut soft fruit and veg accurately and without any deformation of the flesh. Very fresh tomatoes and cucumber especially can look terrible if cut with a dull knife. The dimples do their job well and the majority of the food falls away from the blade as it should. It holds its sharp edge very well but I always like to spend 30 seconds on the steel prior to each session just to make life easier and get the best presentation. I do like my food to look good.Overall, for its price, I think it's remarkably good and would be perfect for a family kitchen. I can recommend it with the proviso that you will need to keep on top of the sharpening but this is true for all steel knives.

Good all rounder
The media could not be loaded. Due to the all-metal construction of this Tansung Santoku knife there is no tang or rivets that often become loose and render a knife useless. The balance is very good and the edge, as delivered, is quite sharp. There does not need any special sharpening requirements, just a normal kitchen sharpener. The all-black finish is particularly striking.I was so pleased with this Santoku knife I sent for a chef’s knife also by Tansung.

Nicely sharp general use kitchen knife
A sharp kitchen knife makes all the difference to cooking prep. Sure, you can hack away with a butter knife, but you'll be miserable doing so.This knife may not be the sharpest I've ever used, but out the box it was VERY sharp and made quick, quality, cuts in all the meat and vegetables I tested it with. I felt the handle could have been a little heavier to balance it out more to my liking - but knife balance is a very personal issue, and I was not so concerned about that enough to mark it down at all. The blade scallops were well ground and positioned, and I do think they helped it to get the thin vegetable cuts I wanted to see in my testing. After a week of use I ran it over my whetstone, and it acquired the sharpness that I truly needed.I really liked the look of the knife, and I think the darker blade coating gives it a stylish quality. While I'm not swayed by aesthetics over function, I could easily see giving this as a gift to someone and it standing out a bit from their other kitchen utensils. This knife arrived well protected in its insert inside the box and had a plastic tip cover, along with an easily removed plastic sleeve along the blade length.

Hier braucht man wirklich ganz wenig Druck.

Decent knife for its price
The knife looks good and feels fine in the hand. Wish there was some more weight to the handle though. The knife came sharp without any defects and cuts well. No real complaints yet. will have to see how it is with more use and how the longevity of this knife will be.
