I needed to replace a beloved boar bristle hairbrush that had been gifted to me when I was 5 years old and lasted through 40 years of daily use. If I knew how to leave a review for THAT brush I would give it all the stars. Anyway, while I don’t expect this brush to repeat the same performance, it is an excellent brush for the price and has the same miraculous, frizz taming effect on my hair. To be clear, this brush is not particularly effective for tangles, so for long hair a second, detangling brush is a necessity. What the brush does is smooth, tame, and spread the natural oils down the hair’s length. Boar bristle brushes arrive with a strong smell, which can be really off-putting if you are not expecting this to be the case. I gave the brush a quick soaping with Dawn and baking soda, which helped significantly, and the remaining smell slowly dissipated over the course of about a month. It shed a few bristles during the cleaning but hasn’t really shed since. I expect this will be a brush that gives a few years of good service before needing to be replaced. Bamboo will never have the durability of a hardwood handle, and it doesn’t have the heft or bristle density of my original brush. That said, at this price point I had no expectation that this would be a 1:1 replacement, and am totally satisfied with using this brush while I ponder forking over real money for a hairbrush that might outlast my lifespan. I was pleasantly surprised that the brush is as good as it is at this price point.

I love these kinds of brushes especially for my daughter’s hair, it doesn’t pull, it gives like a sleak look. It’s good with tangles too doesn’t pull hard on the hair. It does have a smell like fire wood. But personally I love the smell. But overall I love this brush and it’s super affordable.

I should have listened to the other reviews that mentioned the smell, but thought maybe some people were exaggerating. Nope. The brush looks exactly as described, but reeks like a burnt fire pit. It's so strong it irritates my eyes. I wanted to give the brush an honest try, so I tried it on my hair. Made my hair smell like it. I tried advice about washing the brush with a mild shampoo. It stinks even worse while wet, and the smell hasn't gone away now that it's dry again. A bunch of bristles came out while washing it, too. I ordered a different brush (same price, different brand--Norsewood), and it has zero smell despite also being boar bristles. Exactly one bristle has come out of the new one so far. I'd return this one, because it was a complete waste of my $15, but Amazon wants me to ship it back in the original packaging, and I threw that away during my "how bad can it really be?" optimistic start where I was still giving this product the benefit of the doubt. Very disappointed. If you're looking to try a boar bristle brush, do yourself a favor and pick a different one.

It's true: this is a great brush. I have long, thick hair. This brush is fantastic. As good as it gets. BUT I can't recommend it or buy it again because of the terrible smell of the rubber padding/base. I didn't read or missed that part in the reviews when I bought it. I have owned it for over a month and the smell has faded some, but it is still there. I have owned many brushes like this, so I know that the smell of the rubber is not necessary. It shouldn't be. If you don't mind the smell, this is the brush for you. If you are at all sensitive to odors, DO NOT buy this brush. UPDATE: Although I don't appreciate the smell, I have kept using this brush because it is such a great brush. In fact, it is the perfect brush for me. Not too soft, not too hard. I will buy another just to have one in reserve.

I swear on my life the first time I used this I noticed and instant shine! The pictures are my hair with only one wash this week. I’ve been using it for a week now and only washed my hair once. I don’t do 100 strokes but I do use it twice a day and in the middle of the week when I would normally do my second wash I just wet my hair in the shower and used the brush when my hair was dry. Every time I use it there is an instant shine and smoothness to my hair. There’s a bit of noticeable extra shine at my roots and I probably should do the 100 strokes but I just don’t have the time or patience. I definitely recommend this brush! Even just twice a day how every many strokes you want to do gives a noticeable difference. Oh and sometimes I section my hair sometimes I don’t.

I really like this brush for a slickbacked ponytail or bun. The bristles leave my hair smooth and without flyaways. The only issue I have with it is the smell of the bristles is quite strong, and that transfers to my hair.

This brush is wonderful. It glides through my fine, fairly long hair easily without breaking it. I usually make sure there's no tangles with a wide tooth comb first. I think it's going to be great for distributing oils. I've only been using it for a few days but I really like it so far. ☺️👍 I also think it'll be great when I use my dry shampoo in between shampoos to brush the oils out of my hair. My old combination boar bristle/plastic bristle brush always pulled my hair out like crazy when I did that. I think It's really great that the handle is made from bamboo since it's a very sustainable plant! The wood is very sturdy and beautiful and not light at all but not too heavy.

This brush is a great brush and perfect for postpartum hair. I’m so incredibly impressed. It does everything it says it does. This is the brush you don’t know you absolutely need. It makes my hair so incredibly shiny and soft. It’s perfect for putting my hair up in a ponytail. It’s gently on my hair and scalp to minimize breakage and postpartum hair loss.
