Highly recommend getting!!! LOVE the writing/journal space on the side. Great for getting the ESV translation which is more of a word for word translation than the NIV. Very elegant. Love the gold and navy. There are nice artistic golden verses on bits of the journaling sections of major Bible verses which is really nice. Perfect for messages/sermons that hop around the Bible. Has a nice Table of Contents. No index or definitions in the back. In the back there is an explanation for each of the drawings at the beginning of each chapter. Perfect for journaling during Bible Studies and messages/sermons when you are going chapter by chapter in the Bible or covering specific books of the Bible. Our Grace Church in Eden Prairie, MN, just covered the book of Revelation (it has been fantastic!!!), so I used the ESV Revelation Bible journal in the New Testament set. It works great for writing on each journal page: "Observations" on the left side (I like to write what happened in each Bible verse or write down highlights of the verses), draw a line drawn the middle, and "Questions" on the right hand side that you have. For any note taking, highlighting, circling words/phrases that are repetitive, and writing the Attributes of God on the left of the Bible Verses. I also like to put squares around the words I write of God's Attributes, God's different names or "he" mentioned in the verses and references to other Bible verses that correlate to the verses being covered. The NIV Study Bible is great for connecting the dots between different parts of the Bible, history, maps, notes, research, chapter summaries, table of contents, index, definitions, etc.

This is a beautiful Bible. The interior pages has gold writing, margins for note taking, and intricate art work throughout. I found this on another website and was pleasantly surprised to find it here for a much better price.

This is perhaps the most beautiful and sturdy Bible I own in my small but growing collection. I just love the wonderful appearance and feel of the cloth over board cover as well as the accompanying filigree artwork. Flipping through and reading this Bible is a joy because on every few pages you'll be greeted by some beautifully highlighted verses that can be found in the margins. This is indeed one of the benefits of an illuminated Bible, you can thumb through it until something catches your attention which then beckons you to read deeper into the book. Each book is introduced by very classy, full page pieces of art that captures the theme of each book. In the back of the Bible is a section explaining the artwork that introduces the books. It's all wonderfully worded, a joy to read, and can, for many, offer deeper insight to the various books of the Bible. There are no references or notes in this Bible, the pages are on a relatively heavy cream-colored paper and the printing is sharp. If you would like to do art journaling with this Bible, thanks to the thickness of the pages it ought to live up to its name, "Art Journaling Edition." What is amazing about this Bible is that it is not very expensive but the quality is extremely high. This Bible is printed in China and the ESV text version of the copy used in this review is "ESV Text Edition: 2016." The Bible also comes with a very sturdy slip case that will help protect it and make it look even prettier on your bookshelf. It is my opinion that this Bible would make a wonderful gift. Indeed, I purchased one for my sister and her family commemorating the birth of her daughter and she loves it. I bought this Bible for my wife at the beginning of the year when we started a year-long read-through Bible program. We love the ESV accuracy and reverence that is lacking in some other modern versions of the Bible, though this review is not really about the version. Our review is primarily about the illumination and format of the Bible. My wife absolutely loves and the artwork is just impressive and adds a little beauty to the experience of reading scripture. The print is clean and large enough to read clearly for someone with normal vision. It is certainly not giant print and if you need that I would not recommend this Bible. What my wife likes best, however, is the margins where she can take notes. They are large and lined so that the notes look neat and organized. It is a great combination of neat and well-organized with the beauty of some great artwork. The cover, which is a cloth-covered hardback, is very durable and even after several months of carrying it all over shows no signs of wear, partly due to the great dust cover it comes with, which also shows no signs of wear or tear. Finally, this bible is eye-catching and unique. The design has served as a source of conversation several times. People notice it!

UPDATE: Received the new Bible today, as promised, and it is in perfect condition. The most beautiful book I own and I am so excited to start this faith journey - upping to 5-stars! ORIGINAL: Absolutely beautiful Bible, but arrived in poor condition. One page ripped entirely and three other pages in the back were crumpled up. There are also scuffs in the foil on the edges of the paper. Was extremely excited to begin my journey with a stunning Bible, but extremely disappointed to see the damage when it arrived. I did file for a replacement book, so I will update when it arrives tomorrow.

Gorgeous!

I've had this Bible in my cart for a while but wasn't sure if I should get it. I saw good discount on it and finally made a decision. It is so much more beautiful in person. This Bible is full of so many details and it's obvious that a lot of intentionality and work went into the design. All the gold throughout is gorgeous. All the scripture passages chosen as features are lovely. I thought it was a nice touch to add in the back an explanation of every book's beginning art piece. The pages are thin, but that is pretty standard for Bibles. It is rare to find thicker pages in a bible. I may not write in this Bible to keep it's beauty. The case that comes with it and the Bible itself feels very sturdy though. It's stunning and I'm glad I finally got it!

My mom bought me this bible a few years ago and I loved it so much I bought my friend one too! It’s beautiful! The artwork is amazing.
