Bulky but well made and exceptional value
So my husband's much loved Superdry jacket had a ripped seam and I tried to repair it, but it ripped again, it really was done for. Being stumped as to what to get him for Christmas, I saw this as a good opportunity. My heart sank when, after ordering this, the day before it arrived, a parcel arrived for him and he had ordered himself a new one. I didn't feel too confident any more at all, but thought I'd give him the option and give it to him anyway. I'm really glad I did. Whilst the one he has ordered and kept is filled with down and is very lightweight (more than this), it isn't waterproof and it doesn't have a hood; both of which the superdry one was. He tried it on and it was a perfect fit, so the sizing is spot on. He said instantly he could feel how warm it was, and he said it is perfect for days when it's cold and wet, the fact it has a hood is a massive bonus as far as he could see. We have a very active nearly 4 year old, so most weekends are spent out and about at parks, with him on his bike and us jogging behind trying desperately to keep up and keep warm! This is perfect for those occasions, the 4 year old is not ever put off by the weather - it could be a thunderstorm and he'd still want to go out riding his bike!!! I'm so pleased I chose this and I think it's fab value for money - a real steal at this price, the quality is excellent and all the zips are sturdily sewn in. If you are debating it - get one. If you live in or visit cold places - get one. If you know someone who lives in or visits cold places - get them one! They will thank you for it.

Fantastic coat for cold weather.
So I'll start with a few points before going over the good stuff.Firstly, clothing wise my average size is somewhere between medium and large clothes. I bought the coat in large, but I should have gone for medium. The coat is slightly bulky but there's a lot of room inside. So if you're considering buying one of these (and are generally between two size ranges) go for the smaller one.Another thing I should mention is that the coat is not heavyweight, but the padding is significant. So it's slightly bulky and heavier than rival products. So what's the coat actually like? It's brilliant. The coat is just winter repellent. I haven't once felt cold in this coat and I've only ever had a t-shirt underneath it. It has so much weather resistance. Stops cold wind and traps in heat. Keeps you warm, but it's breathable, so you're never uncomfortably hot.Pockets are good, length of the coat goes to just below my waist (I'm just under 6ft) and I love the colour (I went for the blue one). It's now my go-to winter coat, so if you need something to stay warm outdoors in the cold, get one.One thing to mention, I haven't tested this coat in the rain yet, but I have had Trespass stuff before and it's normally held up pretty well.

Blue is my colour
The jacket is warm and large and will be good for the winter months. As it’s water proof and has a hood. The quality seems fine. And I love the colour blue. The real test will be in the winter though!

Best bang for buck on Amazon?
First of all let me say I have only had this jacket for two weeks so hope I am not tempting providence! (Any setbacks in the near future and rating will be duly revised.) I have had Trespass gear in the past and it has always been of a decent quality but this jacket appears to be of such high quality you would have to pay two or three times this price to get something similar. One thing that surprised me was its 'water-resistant' outer layer. Padded jackets usually have a soft, porous outer layer but this one has a textured finish which is quite water-repellant - I have worn it a few times on shortish 20/30 minute walks in fairly heavy rain and the water just beaded up on the surface. Maybe not quite up to long distance hill walking in torrential rain but an all-weather goretex/aquadry type jacket will make a much bigger dent in your bank balance! Quality zips, an excellent adjustable hood and as warm as a duvet - at the current price of around £45 I should grab one before they are all gone! (Once again if I find any significant faults over the next few weeks and months rest assured I will quickly revise this assessment!)

Waterproof and warm.
Very impressed with this coat, warm and waterproof. Only gripe would be that it doesn't have hand warmer pockets. But, for the price, it's excellent value.
