NOLA NO MORE
Nola was a northern white rhino who lived in the San Diego Safari Park. She was sweet and gentle. Her caretakers and visitors lover her dearly. When she died peacefully on November 22, 2015, the world mourned her loss. Now only three of her species are left on earth. This beautiful nonfiction picture book presents her story to the world. Illustrated in soft, beautiful watercolors, Nola is seen happily romping through the grass and chewing her dinner, running with the herds, and speaking with other friends in the animal park. She looks forward to her human visitors. But there is danger lurking because her species is hunted for their trunk, the other animals warn her to hide. Nola is so large that she cannot find a spot to camouflage her. She leaves her readers with the message to be grateful for what you have. Bonus features included in this book allow the reader to view real photographs of the rhino and read an interview with Nola's zookeeper, Jane Kennedy sharing her real life experiences in caring for Nola. This beautiful book is recommended for preschool and early elementary age children, though the beauty of Nola's soul and message will resonate with readers of all ages.

What a precious book about a wonderful animal!
Nola by Stephanie Lisa Tara is such a touching book that I wanted to cry after reading it knowing it was based on a real rhino and she died during the creation of this book. The real Nola and only a couple of other white rhinos are all there is left! I looked online and searched the sad history. I am glad there is a book out that may get kids to feel tenderness toward animals and want to not pouch or kill animals for their skins or horns or for trophies. Here is a article of Nola with a picture of her and her death and it's impact. [....]Great book. Wonderful. Loved the images except the noses (?) on the kids, weird.

Loved this Book
Nola is based on the real rhino named Nola. She was a rare rhino. She was taken to a zoo to protect her because her species was almost all gone. For me, the information from the zoo keeper, the back of the book, made this a wonderful book. Oh yes, there is also all those cute illustrations of Nola.I received a copy to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
