Good Replacement Burner
I bought this to replace my old turkey fryer burner. I tried cleaning my previous burner with easy off and some rat tail files, and it seemed clean. However, no matter what I did, it would throw soot something fierce. I got tired of cleaning the soot off of everything the pot touched. So, I bought this replacement burner. I actually was about to buy the Bayou Classic KAB4, but I didn't want to spend $80 when all I may have needed was a new burner. The burner was about $16, but I saw there was a warehouse deal on a repackaged one for $5.87 shipped. It works very well. It fires harder than my old burner, and the flame is blue with no yellow. The flame pattern does break up some when you turn up the flow, but it is a solid burner. At less than $6, I should have no complaints. I still would recommend buying it at $16.

Lots of heat, and five minutes to replace the old one
I bought a turkey fryer kit for my home brewing hobby. Once I had outgrown the kettle that came with it, I had the itch to replace the cooker as well, to get a better burner. But did that mean throwing out the whole frame? It seemed like such a waste. After some research, I decided that this unit was just what I needed to give me more heat from my existing cooker. And I haven't been disappointed. It was just like the old non-Bayou Classic burner I had, fitting in the same place and attaching to the frame through the same screw hole. And it fired up without a problem, reducing the time to boil by a noticeable amount. If your existing cooker frame is still in good shape, this is an inexpensive, quick way to improve your cooker. You won't be disappointed.

Bayou classic burner good for replacement but GREAT for converting an offset smoker to gas!
I am sure this would have made a great replacement burner for a fryer but I used mine differently. I had a cheap offset smoker from target. I think it was charbroil. I was not very good at keeping the coals and fire going, and keeping my temperature steady, I had to watch it all of the time, I would oversmoke my food a lot and such. So I got this idea from an old fryer I used to have to convert my smoker to gas. Yeah I am violating my own personal beliefs about TRUE SMOKING, but It is so much better. I mounted the burner in the bottom middle of my fire box. Then I placed a rack as high as I could (almost to the opening into the barrel) and placed ceramic briquettes (which I found at Kmart but where difficult to find someone who sold them) on the rack. Now I can smoke stuff at an exact temperature all day. Set it and forget it!. I put in a chip box for smoke as I need it(never oversmoked yet). Also I have 17 hours on one propane tank which I have refilled at southern states for about $16. I used to spend that much on charcoal for half of that time! SO in the end it took a little trial and error to get just right but now that I have my food has never been better. Pay attention to high pressure or low. This is high. I used a hose kit I got at Bass Pro shops because it was about the same price and I just happened to be there anyway(and it came with the brass fitting too). So all in all I spent $50 for smoker(super closeout at target), $30 for the hose/regulator/brass fitting/ and what I paid for this (less that $20) a little work and a little metal(to close hole I made to fit burner out to brass fitting hose regulator) and now I have an awesome reliable gas smoker!

A quick fix and all is great
I bought two of these to repair my old propane cookers. They are not Bayou brand but were the exact same part. They were so rusted I had to grind the nuts off to remove them. They had so much crud in them that the yellow flame could not be adjusted and it soot up the bottom of the pot. One of the new (used) burners had excess casting material on the flutes of the center disk that the gas wouldn't come out of about 6 of the holes. I took the disk out and with a chainsaw file and five minutes it was better than new. The new burners produce a clean flame you can hardly see it. I use these to make maple syrup and definitely decreased my propane use and the production time. I was going to scrap those old rusty cookers till I saw the burners and hoses on this web site. I couldn't be happier . Thanks

Great replacement burner, very reasonable cost
Great replacement for a burner that had been invaded and clogged by mud wasps... This was a direct fit on my twin burner camp stove rig (just one screw mount at the bottom) and worked great right out of the box. It does not come with the brass adapter to the hone, but I just reused the one from my old burner, no problem.

Better than the original Burner
Had to replace the burner on my Masterbuilt Smoker. I was unsure to order it but order it anyway. This burner works better than the original burner. I can keep a lower heat in the smoker. When I boil water it brings the water to a faster boil than the original burner. It gives the perfect low flame and gives a turbo flame when high heat is needed.

IM happy with the burners(I ordered two) performance
Made in china,That said, these actually work, and work very well. As for durability, only time will tell. IM happy with the burners(I ordered two) performance. The flame is so pure and burns so clean you can hardly even see it, but trust me, its there, and shes HOT!The two burners I got did not come with a spring between the unit itself, and the regulator plate at the end where the hose connects, so I took my old springs from my old burners, and used them, works perfect. Nice burners for sure.

Cast aluminum, not cast iron, I would NOT have ordered this item.
Just received my cast iron replacement burner, only to find out that it is NOT cast iron. It is cast aluminum. I would not have ordered this item.

bad description
The product I received was different from the description. Looks like they changed the construction and the new version fits badly in the product box. The box had a hole in it because the bottom threaded rod was too long. Also the two screws were missing for the installation of the air control obturation, but surprisingly there were no places to install any screws near the air/gas intake? Looks like the air control obturation is meant to be held in place by the brass orifice valve (which was also missing) and you need that? I just returned the product.
