Split-star review
If I could give different stars for the final product vs. getting there, I would do 5 stars for the final model and 2 stars for the hassle in getting there.Starting with the positive... The finished boat does look impressive, especially for the price. It's much more "polished" in places even LEGO would normally skimp, like the undersideāthere and other details look like a proper boat vs. just anti-studs. If you're interested in this as a finished display model, I would recommend it in a heartbeat. That being said, the negatives are numerous... The set includes two color options for all the "wood" elementsāeither a brown or a dark orangeābut for some inexplicable reason that distinction isn't mentioned ANYWHERE on the box, bags, or instructions. What's more infuriating is that the instructions show using the brown color alongside numbered bag icons... Except the bricks in those numbered bags are actually the dark orange pieces. So unless you know to empty the entire two bags of extra brown bricks from the start, and set aside the dark orange pieces, be prepared to tear the boat apart halfway through when you realize you've been using the wrong color.Other negatives... The figures are pure nightmare fuel and nearly impossible to put together; they went into the trash shortly after finishing the boat. I can't imagine a child putting this set together on their own: as a grownup, just getting the finicky bricks to clutch/attach to each other straight and evenly was extremely frustrating. The instructions are also very unclear in multiple spots, leading to guessing as to which way bricks should be oriented or placed. Lastly, the instructions do briefly mention it (visually) up front, but at first I was confused by the stickers: you apply them like waterslide decals, then peel off the backings, leaving the sticker element in place. It's a weird process that can be cumbersome if you're not used to it, plus it doesn't afford you any opportunity to fix a sticker's placement if you don't get it exactly right. If you're looking at this for a playset, look elsewhere. But what's weird is that, even after all those issues, I'd still recommend it as a display pieceāas long as you can mentally steel yourself for a few hours and don't get frustrated easily.

Great gift but needs adult supervision/assistance.
At first, our 8-year-old grandchild lost interest early on because of all the parts that needed to be sorted and detailed directions deciphered. Once that was all sorted out, this product was a good project for an adult to help an 8+ child work on. Beware of teeny tiny parts a baby or toddler can choke on.

Way below LEGO Quality
Quality: Bad. Way bellow Lego.Appearance: Oddly good.Easy of use: Not at all.Fun: Mixed feelings, since the entire process of assembling it was very frustrating; but once assembled final product looks good (but worth mention to said that Im a hard core collector with 100+ sets) Thanks to my spare pieces I was able to fix a lot of issues; including several missing pieces.I wont recommend this set, or this brand to any of my friends.

This was awful
I am sorry but this build was awful. The parts are cheap the "how to is " you really do it yourself. I have a Lego city and saw this and thought how great for the fishing store and water. I get the cost was low it's not worth it. I don't like to complain but spend the extra for Lego.

Not the same as real Lego...
Its hard to recommend this set...The hull was pretty difficult to assemble due to the poor tolerance of the bricks. I doubt a young child could assemble this without help. The rigging is also tedious. Once its put together its not a bad set, looks alright. The mini-figures are absolutely terrible! I gave up trying to assemble them and threw them out.One big positive is that my box included a whole set of extra brown bricks, allowing you to choose between two color options. A strange but welcome addition; definitely justified the price for me.If you're an adult who wants a cheap lego alternative, well there are better brands, but this one is decent enough for the price. If you want to get something for a child, spend the extra money and go with Lego...

Difficult
This ship was very difficult to build. The direction booklet was a little difficult to understand and wasnt very clear. In the beginning of the boat building stages it was hard to keep the bottom of the boat together while trying to put on top of those pieces.
