If you have an Achilles injury then this book contains a lot of helpful information
An excellent little book that gives a most comprehensive description of the various problems encountered and remedies for the deliberating pain in the Achilles tendon area of the foot. The book is unusual in some respects that it is written from a UK perspectiveThere is a detailed drawing of the internal structure of a foot on page 23 and under the heading Achilles tendonitis and there are four diagrams on page 38 which are very small and less clear due to poor focus. Nevertheless, as already has been stated, the key to recovery is the self exercises of which thirty are listed in chapter four, but unfortunately there are no illustrations, which would have been very helpful as I have found that I am having to read the descriptions multiple times to fully understand the procedures recommended. Indeed the first on “eccentric calf exercise” the user is directed to a Sheffield NHS website. Surely a few photographs or sketches of someone attempting this routine would be useful? The absence of diagrams on something that is so fundamental it is somewhat surprising as chapter 5 is devoted to yoga therapy, and each of the nine yoga exercises are all illustrated. Perhaps this is something the author may consider for a future edition please.

Love the exercices and the aids section
Just what I was looking for: a book with practical tips and advice. 3/4 of the books is just that. Great content and well written.

A lot of different aspects covered but not in great detail. The only illustrations are for the yoga poses. Some of the stretching exercises were difficult to understand and as there were no illustrations for them I had to refer to other stretching books.

A lot of explanation, very little help
The book is more or less useless. It describes the problems in a lot of detail, but offers little help. You sometimes get the feeling the author is actually making fun of you, especially when talking about the so called weekend runners.

Well worth reading...Very through
Excellent assistance to me as I try to combat Achilles Tendonitis from MS related dorsiflexion footdrop. The exercises are proving very helpful. I was already icing and wearing a brace specific for this nasty condition. I did PT but am finding this book much more helpful to my healing process.
