Stainless Steel 5 litre bowl
We normally use plastic bowls for everyday food preparation needs in the kitchen but after reading several articles about plastic hygiene issues in longer run, we decided to get rid of used plastic bowls and invest in Stainless steel. Just to underline one of the hygiene issue with plastic so people who read my review can understand what made me feel and consider change is when we buy chicken or any meat products we like to soak it in cold water before washing it clean ready to be cooked to get rid of any impurities. Our daughter advised us that plastic with time deteriorate especially with scratches and becomes porous where bacteria can hide and cause all sort of health issues. Stainless steel is the best material for such uses. This is a very well made Stainless steel bowl and 5 litre is large enough for our kitchen. Top ridges are smooth and rounded. Outer side is polished and inside is Matt finish. Bottom feels a bit light as if you press it makes buckle sound. We will use this for washing meat products, making dough and salad preparation. I am considering of buying an other smaller version of this bowl as we really like it. Only nagging part of this purchase was sticker they put on the inside bottom of the bowl. I don't know what glue they have used that it was nightmare to remove. Overall happy with my purchase and 4 stars for rating.

Versatile bowl
Bought for making sourdough as I needed a bowl that would fit inside my Brod and Taylor proofer. Itโs a really good shape, being higher than it is wide. Dough comes out of it easily and the bowl is easy to clean. Seems robust and hopefully will last many years.

Perfect for bread makers
I bought one each of Faringdon's 5L and 10L stainless steel mixing bowls, but it's this 5 Litre one that's the perfect size for mixing up and proving a batch of dough. Lovely and wide at 30cm, but quite shallow at 14.5cm, so it gives you lots of elbow room for mixing up the quantities. Lightweight but not flimsy, so you can happily bash away at the ingredients without worrying about denting the bowl. Washing it up is a doddle and it fits snugly into my sink; it can be put into a dishwasher too - if you can clear the space for it (it's quite a big beast!). I particularly appreciate that it's not too wide to have a teatowel slung across it when the dough's proving, but it's also shallow enough to slide onto a cleared shelf of my fridge when proving overnight. All in all one of the most useful items I've bought for my venture into breadmaking - along with Richard Bertinet's inspiring book on Dough .

Great product
I bought a whole set of these bowls from small to this large one and I have to say it makes baking a whole lot easier. They are light weight and easy to hold, they don't slip about but I tend to put a damp tea towel down on the kitchen side anyway just to make sure. They are easy to clean, sure they aren't the most expensive bowls you can buy and in time I expect they will dent a little but so what, they are functional and for the money an excellent buy. If you've never had metal mixing bowls before these are a good starting point.

A little disappointed
I wanted a decent quality, all purpose stainless steel bowl for preparing my dough when baking bread. The bowl is very lightweight so easily to handle when full. However I was disappointed that the base pops in and out when using it, it doesn't affect the functionality, but I find the sound and sensation annoying. As with some previous reviews, the label on the inside base of the bowl is very securely stuck on, but I didn't have too much trouble removing the sticky residue with washing up liquid and an eco scrubby (which doesn't scratch the metal). I shall probably look to replace the bowl before long as though it does the job, I do find it annoying to use.
