Fabulous latest installment of this great series.
This is book two in “The Beauchamp Betrothals” the new series by the talented Ms Preston and it is a doozy this time we are getting to know the roguish and charming Vernon, younger brother to Leo Beauchamp from book one. Preston has come out with a real winner with this one and it has definitely become my favourite book out of her work.Vernon is an interesting man and, yes we have met him before in the previous book and he had always come across as a rake, but I see so much more to him that. You see that his behaviour is just a cover, a mask so to speak to hide his unsettled mind. Being the so-called “spare to the heir” he feels like no one needs him and he wants to be useful and he wants to be able to do something other than bed hop and be the side kick for his powerful brother. He wants to prove that he is his own man who I don’t think he has anything to prove you see instantly that he is a good man.I really like Vernon he such an interesting man, he has so many layer’s and the more you strip away one layer another more surprising one comes out into the open. What Preston has done with him is a stroke of pure genius, pairing this vulnerable, if slightly naive to the real world, aristocrat with an aristocrat-hating, working class normal lass is just brilliance and it also mean that you get a lot of fun with them along the way. After being burnt by his people Thea wants nothing to do with his kind, she sees them as nothing but a useless waste of space. People who wouldn’t know the concept of good honest, hard work if it danced naked in front of them, and I can relate to her. Thea is cut from the same cloth as so many in the present day and I absolutely believe that like myself and thousands of other working-class women we can all relate and understand Thea in a way that you can’t an aristocratic. She is a breath of fresh air she is pure and principled and she knows the value of a day’s good honest toil, the bitter sniping that she constantly does at him is so very funny and his reaction to her is of sometimes shock and bemusement. She is not one to think first, she says what’s on her mind and damn the consequences. So, when Vernon tells her that yes, he will help her look for her brother she is jumping for joy and can’t wait to get going, until he informs her that she is not going too. He has said no and she must stay at home while the men do the job. This is sexually charged smooth and enticing, the writing is beyond flawless but it’s the characters that bring this to life they are two beautifully written people who both need love and it is a pure joy to read and I can't wait to see where Preston is going to take this series

beautiful read
Recieved in return for an honest review.Naughtiness 3.5*Another amazing book from Janice I absolutely loved it, had to slow down a lil bit for family reasons but finally finished reading this brilliant book in the early hours of this morning, again got engrossed. I'm a night owl at the moment it seems,I digress. Truly though completely loved it more if you can believe than the last book it had even more in it that kept me engrossed as all good books do.As always I will not give spoilers there is a Blurb. What I can say that this book took me from every side and made me weep with both sorry and dispare at their plight utter joy, every emotion conceivable you experience with addies twists and turns not many would guess the out come. I'm sure we will see more in the near future from them and I'm most hoping that two characters that haven't met yet might be in the next, but I'm saying nothing and hope to ask Lady Janice or even beg if they are next.Thank you so very much Lady Janice for writing this awesome book and the privilege of reading it I am Addicted xxxx

Amazing romantic story
Thea and her brother Daniel are close and she thinks she knows everything about him, but then he mysteriously disappears. Thea has no idea where he went and is desperate to hear from him. When a gentleman asks after her brother and offers to help Thea find him, she agrees. Vernon hasn’t felt useful in quite a while, so helping out the glassmaker’s daughter is the exact adventure he needs. He hasn’t counted on Thea’s inventive personality though. Will they be able to work together and find out more about Daniel’s disappearance?Thea and Vernon have to spend a lot of time with each other, they have to make clever plans if they want to uncover the truth. Especially when they stumble upon a mystery that’s greater than just Daniel’s disappearance. Can they become the team they need to be, so they can get to the bottom of the matter? What will happen when sparks fly? They’re from different worlds and only have a short time to get to know each other, will it be enough?Scandal and Miss Markham is a gorgeous story filled with adventure, intrigues and romance. I absolutely loved Thea. Her fiery spirit is fabulous. She does whatever she wants to do and isn’t afraid to follow her heart. She takes risks and that’s exactly the kind of challenge Vernon needs. He’s lost and being useful is a great way to discover what he can do and where his strengths and weaknesses lie. They’re a fantastic match and I kept hoping that nothing would be able to keep them apart, this made me curious enough to read their story in one sitting.Janice Preston has a wonderful warm writing style. I love how her vivid descriptions are making her story come to life. I could easily picture the dresses, the rules of society, Thea and Vernon’s journey and the tricks and disguises they come up with. It was a lot of fun to be surprised by the many unexpected twists and turns the story provides. Scandal and Miss Markham is entertaining, charming, dynamic and delightful. I absolutely loved this true gem of a book.

Another brilliant book from Janice Preston
Loved this story of another member of the aristocratic Beauchamps family. This time it is Leo's brother Vernon's turn to fall in love. And what a rollercoaster of an adventure he embarks upon once he meets the headstrong Thea Markham and offers to help her find her brother. The interaction between these two strong characters is fascinating as they weave around one another. There is a gripping plot and, as always in Janice Preston's books, the sexual chemistry is beautifully and sensuously described. The historical details add realism to the story and the Worcester based locations are well researched as both the local inn and landlord really did exist at the time. Can't wait to read the next book by this accomplished author.
