On a poll in hot west Tx
Just works. Runs high end ip cams poe and just works. It gets super hot here and this switch just keeps working. Never rebooted or reboots. Plug and play. Great high speed switch. Love the outdoor capabilities. Save us so many wire runs and gives us all the bandwidth needed. Price is a plus.

physical layout and design is good, internal design is bad
Update 3-5-2023: We had a storm come through last week that had a few instances of relatively strong thunder and lightning. I received NVR notifications indicating video loss on the parking lot cameras fed from this switch. It shows no sign of power and the feed inside the building does not indicate any active network link whatsoever. This is wired with 100% outdoor rated cable that is shielded and grounded, and the switch still died. Returning and will be seeking another brand.Update 2-20-2023: The unit I put in 12-1-2022 quit sometime in Mid-January and was replaced last week. The power/PoE side worked fine however the networking/switching seemed to quit. No storms or any physical damage to speak of. Octide does not appear to be any kind of legitimate brand with product support or any kind of warranty beyond the standard Amazon 30-day return policy. I reached out to Amazon support and explained the situation and they were kind enough to issue a special exception and allow me to return this. For purposes of continuity I ordered the same one again to reuse the existing bolt pattern and wiring setup. Parking lot cameras are back in working order again. However, if this dies again, I will have to find an alternative.--------Original Review 12-10-2022:--------Seems to be a pretty well built switch. It’s only been in service for 2 weeks so can’t comment on longevity or how well it handles ESD from lightning and thunderstorms but will update in the future if there are any issues. This is being used as a central node on a utility pole for outdoor parking lot cameras that feed into a commercial building rented out for events like weddings, parties, etc. As far as I know this is a purely ‘dumb’ switch. It’s not programmable for VLANs/L3 switching etc. I have not tested whether or not it will pass VLAN traffic (it might which would be great, but these cameras have physical isolation inside so I’m not using any)The 120/240V power terminals on this are a push in/wedge style. If you are using stranded wire, make sure it is twisted tight and/or tinned for easier insertion and removal. The front panel has orange and red power, Link, and activity lights for all of the ports which is visible on the outside (at night anyways)The rubber boot that goes on the bottom to protect the internals from the elements has pre molded cut marks to slice an X/cross open to allow wires in. If you’re using thicker outdoor rated cable (black direct burial/aerial/UV resistant jacket) you may have issues with the rubber tearing beyond those cut marks and the boot falling off entirely. This one started to tear but is still holding for now. Time will tell if it will still remain long term- I filled with packing foam for extra protection.

A good exterior POE switch
This is a decent, inexpensive POE switch designed for exterior use.The unit I received is listed as 6 ports - meaning 4 gigabit POE ports and two gigabit upload ports - one being a standard RJ45 Ethernet port and the other a SFP port. The case is fairly large at approximately 12 inches tall x 8.5 inches wide x 3 inches thick (including the attached pole saddle bracket. The pole bracket is also used for wall mounting and it comes with a handy paper template to make the process easier. If wall mounted, the unit will stand-off the wall approximately 1.125 inches due to the bracket. The unit requires 110 or 220 volt single phase AC power, no power cord is included, as this is designed for exterior use, where it typically would be hard wired. AC connections are made via a push button socket - making installation fast and easy. To maintain electrical isolation, there is no connection for a ground on the unit. The unit has internal lightening protection, but any supporting structure should have its own lightening protection and grounding and of course any cabling should be in conduit or designed for exterior use.The switch is passively cooled. The specifications list a maximum operating temperature of just 40c (104°F ) which makes installation in an attic ill advised. The case seems solid with good weatherproofing. There is a small panel of LEDs on the face that shows system status, which I found helpful. That is about it - you connect power, cameras and your uplink and it just works - there are no settings or software to mess with. The unit supports long distance POE cable runs (over 100m - up to 250m), although at a lower speed and the long distance port will be in "VLAN mode", restricting it to communicating only with the uplink port, otherwise the unit acts as a conventional switch, with all ports being able to communicate with each other. The total maximum POE power across all ports is 60 watts, with a single port max of 30 watts. This unit should power four POE security cameras without issue. It is unfortunate it does not have a higher operating temperature rating so it could be used in an attic space. The 104F max should be considered during placement, shading this from the sun seems like a good idea.In my use, the unit has performed as expected, with no issues. I can't yet speak to long-term durability, however, this seems to be well made with quality materials, so I don't anticipate any issues. I will update this review should things change.

Works good
Doesn't include power cord. Doesn't have anything to hold power cord. Have to buy your own clip.Switch is good and works well.

Rather nice looking POE switch, but why not include a 120 V power cable?
This thing is a bit larger than I expected. Think about the size of a piece of notebook paper, but a little larger and a couple of inches thick plus the mounting bracket. The case isn't horrible to look at, it's actually quite nice for a piece of networking equipment. It is easy to connect your ethernet cables, and you can mount it to either a pole or to the wall. They do include a sticker template so you can predrill the holes for the screws if you mount it to the wall. I've been using mine to power a few POE cameras and it works great. It doesn't get hot, and no fans to make any noise at all.Now for the most disappointing part, though you can see this in the description, you do have supply your own 120 volt wire. Literally, like cut a drop cord in half or something kind of wire. The adapter for this wire is pretty sturdy, and has a decent locking mechanism to keep the wire from coming out, but this just turns this really nice product into a sudo DIY product. If you are comfortable with that, or know someone who is then I would recommend this.
