Exotic, Sensual, Magical Short Story That Isn't What You'd Expect (Based on the Title)
I've been a fan of David Soto Jr's, work a for a while now and was an even bigger fan of the Los Chocolates" book. This story went in a slightly different direction. A little less magic, but still the same amount of exotic sensuality (After all, part of the book takes place in the brothel). Reading this book you are taking into another world for a few hours.Despite featuring a lot of sensuality, the book really isn't what you would think. At its core of this book is a story of Marisol who is trying to figure out life as best as she knows how (naive in some ways and incredibly smart in other ways). The author is able to beautifully display this dichotomy of maturity and immaturity in a simple story that has quite a few (unexpected) twists and turns.Based on the title, I thought I knew what the book was going to be about, but it ended up being something totally different. I LOVE that in a book.

Mesmerizing, entertaining and unique
After reading the author’s first book, “Los Chocolates de Esperanza Diamanté”, I already knew I wouldn’t be disappointed in “The Whore, Marisol Rivera”. But somehow I still ended up getting a better story than what I prepared for!The life of Marisol Rivera is intriguing and absolutely unique. The author writes a story that is 100% his, something different, with refreshing and delightful details. I usually don’t read the same book twice, but once I was done, I was tempted to flip back to page one and start all over.I truly hope this author’s books will one day be turned into movies.

Great read
Marisol Rivera's story is picked up artfully in this novella, building on the storyline from Los Chocolates de Esperanza Diamante. There's just enough tone of Gabriel Garcia Marquez to recall Memoria de Mis Putas Tristes, but Soto brings something new to the table, and it's great reading. I'm looking forward to more in this series, and the author's forthcoming memoir.
