Fun and expanding
This is a book/cd set with many interesting jazz piano concepts, scales, approaches to harmony, linear and quartal harmonies, modes and blues, etc. The examples are usually relevant and from going through these lessons, much can be learned. If, like myself, you play roots or another kind of music than jazz but would like to expand in new ways of thinking vis a vis arranging, improvising, finding odd but effective dissonances - this book-set, on top of general musical knowledge and several years of playing, has plenty substance to spark new ideas. All of these 100 Piano Lesson genre books are filled with enough teaching and examples, complete genre-grokking, so better able to come up with something bluesy, dissonant and dissociated, country, rock. I was skeptical about this series but I have probably learned as much from these books as any other musical book or class or video. The material stays with you if you can go through the book and CD at least twice and just concentrate as best as one can - new things emerge and can lead to other insights towards stringing musical concepts together.

Excellent Jazz Piano Resource
This is an excellent book of jazz fundamentals, exercises, and requirements to learn piano jazz written in lesson form. I have found very few good jazz instruction books available, and I have been through many. Both authors, Peter Deneff and Brent Edstrom, are accomplished pianists and composers. This makes the progression of lesson ideas easy to follow and fun to practice. The 2 CDs are extremely helpful and include metronome pulses to give you the feeling of the precise practice tempo. As a classical pianist learning jazz, I found the written lessons (instructions) very helpful, but the instructions left me with many more questions. This may be due to where I am in my journey to learn more about this art. I wanted to know more about when and where to use certain techniques and how to include the ideas in improvisation. I highly recommend this book for anyone who would like to improve their jazz piano vocabulary.

Many base clef chording errors
This is a great book for Jazz Lessons, providing you do not use chords shown in the base clef as many are wrong.Lesson 1, Example 1: Shows for F7 - E flat, A, D. Should be F A C E flat. F7 contains no D as shown.Lesson 1, Example 1: Shows for B flat 7 - D, A flat, C. Should be F, A flat, B flat, D. B flat 7 contains no C as shown.Lesson 1, Example 2: Shows for F mag 7 - E G A C, Should be F A C E. F mag 7 contains no G as shown.Contacted Hal Leonard but they failed to respond to the specific chording issues as submitted. Hal Leonard's answer: Many of the 7 chords are voiced with an added 9 and without the root. This is very common in jazz piano voicings, but it is understandable that it would look like an error.

This is an excellent book. There is a wealth of information in the 100 lessons .The authors seem to have pretty much addressed most jazz keyboard topics and styles. I like the fact that you can go to any lesson of your choice without having to start from the beginning of the book. It comes with 2 CDs.The examples in the CDs sound fantastic. You will find quite a few examples from standards. The sound quality is also remarkable. Price wise, this is a bargain. As a beginner, I know it will take me time to fully take advantage of this book. However, that doesn't dampen my enthusiasm at all. Given all the material and examples included, this is definitely a book/CD set to get.

GOLDMINE is correct!
One Hundred short lessons, each and every lesson with 4 to 6 staff music examples, all of which are recorded on the 2 CDs that come with the book. Lots of really interesting concepts and great sounding licks, that will spur your creative imagination for creating your own licks, and even complete songs. Highly recommended.

Está bien
Está bien y explica la teoría bastante bien, pero no ayuda mucho a familiarizarse con el estilo a las personas que solo han estudiado clásico. Sería interesante que añadiese algunos estudios más y más largos.
