Wide Angle 12v Car Camera
I'm using this camera as a rear view camera located inside the cabin . The photo shows a long holder designed to attach to the number plate . The camera unit is attached to the long holder by four philips screws and after removal is a fairly small camera unit measuring approximately 56mm w x 30mm h x 30mm deep. This is how I'm using it and having attached to the interior with velcro (the unit only weighs a few grams) The camera is in 4:3 format and is indeed, as described, wide angled which of course distorts to picture but not anymore than factory fitted rear-view cameras. Having used plenty of vehicles with factory-fit cameras this unit is better than expected for the price. the resolution is not bad and a little better than some f-f versions...I'd estimate it to be around 0.3mp - 0.5mp equivalent) The colour rendition is not as true as I would like and behind tinted darkened glass is even less true but this is not a problem in use.The camera doesn't have to link in to the vehicles wiring, just into a cig power adapter with the av lead going straight to the monitor or d/v recorder .The power lead appears to have a fuse in line but make sure the power lead plug is taped as it can just fall off.It looses a star just for the infra red... otherwise it does what it says well and appears well made. The infra red won't work from inside the cabin but it doesn't work when its not behind glass - though it may just be me!.Additional Comment; January 2nd 2013Still working fine.To point out, to power the camera from a cigarette lighter socket no plug is supplied with the camera.

Lives up to its name!
I have had a "Night Vision" LED camera before but for my computer and all I can say about that was it is rubbish. It never worked in the dark and was a total waste of space. This camera on the other hand is far from being a waste of space and here is why:First Impression:Nicely package box, well protected for transport. The camera comes with the wiring needed to get this up and running as long as you have a TV head unit. Looking at the unit it seems very well constructed and then lens has no damage to it or marks on it to fault the vision of this item.Installation:I was a little confused with the instructions to start with as I was not 100% sure which of the 2 diagrams related to the camera I had but after looking at it more logically I was able to identify which camera this was. After that the wiring was made more simple I was able to get the camera wired in very quickly. You install the yellow AV cable from front to rear and connect the extra red wire in the AV cable to your TV headunit's reverse switch cable. You can now wire the red wire from the camera to a 12v source. Its recommended you wire this and the extra red wire in the AV cable to you reverse lights so that it all only works when you select reverse. You could do the camera to a permanent live and have the switch wire on the reverse lights. After the wiring is done you just need to mount the camera so that you get an optimal view behind you, this is where you need 2 people. 1 to adjust while you say if the view is what you want to see. We used this to view our tow bar for hooking up the trailer on our pickup which before was a 2 person job and now is a 1 person job.Video feed:Once it was all working, you select reverse and the TV unit comes on with the view behind you. If you have set it up right you will get a good view behind you. There is a projected Red, Amber and Green box system on the screen so you can judge distances easier. It is worth while getting someone to walk behind you so you can identify positioning for the first time. The clarity of the video in night and day modes is very good, We were able to easily identify items in the camera. A HD camera would be more useful if you are going to use this for something other than reversing but for a simple job of reversing this does it nicely. Conclusion:For the price this is a fantastic camera, it does what it says it will and is very easy to get hooked up and working.Recommend buying this if you are looking for a reversing camera

Fantastic little piece of kit
I bought this along with BW® 2.4GHZ RCA Wireless Transmitter & Receiver for Car Rear Reversing Camera and Monitors and BW® 4.3" Foldable Digital TFT LCD Car Rear View Backup Monitor for CCTV Camera DVD, what a bargain at just over £35 AND provided by Amazon so arrived quickly and if I do have a problem will only have to return in UK.It took me about 3 hours to fit this in my camper van, but that included initially testing with temporary screw terminal block connections, routing cables through the cupboards for the WiFi receiver and modifying the bracket to mount inside the van on the high level cupboards. The quality is superb, though I haven't tried it at night yet; I'm not expecting too much due to where I have mine mounted so it will be a bonus if that works well too. don't hesitate, go buy one!I will just add that the 4.3" screen, whilst very good, actually takes up a fair bit of space even on my van dashboard so you could easily get away with a smaller one

Hit and Miss
I'll give this three stars as it is 'OK' but I find that it is a bit hit and miss if it will display or not when powering. Sometimes I have to power it on and off five or six times before it will power up correctly without lines on the display. It may be that I have a faulty item, and for the price I still think it's good value - especially as it comes with 5m of video cable. It is entirely possible that it is the display that is at fault 4.3 Inch TFT-LCD Car Rearview Mirror DVD Monitor with Pocket-sized Color LCD Display, Mini Mirror Monitor for Car / Automobile

when it works, it's good.
very good picture, that's the best part, not as wide angle as expected, particularly good at night. However when fitted I soon found that on powering up, there was just noise on the monitor- often trying three times then a picture would appear. despite that intermittent problem it's ok. The monitor is not at fault as I have two cameras feeding it. For the price it's good, but check the measurements, there are smaller and better cameras available for the same price.
