Very good player for local HDR content!
I recently bought a LG 4k OLED. The TV can natively play local content but I started to notice glitches in HDR content (e.g. stuttering). I decided to do some research to find a media player capable of handling local 4K HDR content and after significant research the Zappiti Mini 4K HDR seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Note: The only difference between this model and the others is it doesn't include the ability to mount a hard drive internally. However, it still comes with a SATA port and USB ports (with 1 USB 3.0 port). I already have a USB 3.0 drive so this wasn't an issue for me.The one issue I did have was the HDMI cable included with the unit was defective. This led to some frustration during the initial setup and led me to believe the unit might be defective. Fortunately, however, as soon as I replaced the HDMI cable everything worked flawlessly. With the exception of the issue above, setup was straightforward. It does require you to sign up for a Zappiti account to use cloud functionality (e.g. storage of your banner art, identification configs, etc.). I also was prompted to update my device but that only took a minute or so. Once all this was done it was, I was up and running.Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Everything plays flawlessly and I haven't encountered an stuttering or other annoying behavior. The box just simply works. Here's a couple tips to save you some time setting it up:1. If you want to use a remote drive simply enter the IP address of it in the Zappiti app. The app will automatically detect the protocol (e.g. SMB).2. Download the mobile app and use it to fix any failed identifications of media. This is much quicker because you can use a touch keyboard rather than relying on the Zappiti keyboard which requires the remote.

Zappiti 4K HDR Review
All concern, I just received the Zappiti Mini 4K HDR for about a week and I have to give it two thumbs up. I’m currently using numerous media machines such as TVIX-HD S1 Slim, MINIX NEO X8-H Plus and the KDLINKS HD720 Extreme FULL HD 1080P 3D Media Player. The Zappiti Mini 4K HDR is number one on my list. I’ve already converted about 5% of my movies and TV shows, and so far it’s just a tremendous machine. I’m working from two Synology NAS and waiting for larger drives so I can store all the videos on one NAS.As for video quality, I use my TVIX daily but there is a noticeable difference on the quality of the picture between the TVIX and Zappiti. I have an old 55-inch Panasonic plasma display and the Zappiti Mini 4K HDR brought new life to its display. All I’m doing now is cleaning up the videos and deleting all but the video itself so I can let the system work on its own.I’ve still have a lot to learn but the only complications I’ve had is working with my personal videos and how-to setup posters. I’ve found the fixes on the forum which I’m planning to use and I’m currently working with a MAC and switching to a Windows 10 to see which is easier. It’s a dream folks and it’s keeping my afternoons busy setting up the video presentations. Don’t get me wrong, I could probably just select all videos and let the machine go to work but I’m taking my time making sure the titles are correct while I await the new larger hard drives for my NAS. Buy one now! You won’t regret it.

Great little player!
We've tried other media players, including the Ziddoo H6 & Minix Neo U9H, and tried using the Roku Ultra as a player, but the Zappiti is much more capable and user friendly. We had been plugging hard drives into our Oppo 203 UHD/Blu-Ray Player, but the picture looks better with the Zappiti. The video wall is amazing, as is the ability to sort between TV series and Movies, as well as identify which movies are 4K/UHD. There are instances when frame rate conversions can challenge this player, but a very infrequent stutter is a minor inconvenience (and those usually occur when we're upconverting a Standard Def source all the way to 4K). The developers in France are good at getting updates posted and problems taken care of. My only "complaint" is the file naming protocol for TV series (you must enter the episode as, for example, s02e05 for 2nd season, 5th episode). Once the Zappiti recognizes what the show is, it will usually intuitively figure out the remaining episodes. We bought the Mini so we could use it during Travel (with a couple of usb drives filled with content). Normally we use it in our home theater room with a JVC UHD Projector onto a 110" screen.

3 months in, so far so good
Excellent device. Was skeptic at the beginning since there aren't many 4k players on the market that you can connect a hd to. I didn't try the apps or any streaming programs on device. I mainly use it to play 4k movies.Pros: You can connect several hds to this device. A WD element 4tb hard drive connected fine.Pros: Upscale 1080p movie files to near 4k. Screen is just a little smaller.Cons: Can't find an option to play movies in a folder at random.Cons: Streaming 4k movies through the network from a computer, didn't work for me. I'm assuming my network speed wasn't the fastest. I tried to stream from another room through wireless and the movies were very choppy and didn't play right. A 1080p movie might have probably worked if i tried it.Cons: The sound from some movies on 4k only plays through the home theater system, not my Samsung 4k tv's. Not sure what could be the issue there. 1080p movies plays fine through the tv's. Maybe my Samsung isn't compatible with the sound in some 4k movies?
