Q: Can you use them on the pet itself?

No I would not use it on my pets, it’s great for carpet and carpeted stairs, dog bed, etc.

Q: Which one can get between sofa cushions that can't be removed?

Probably all of em can but best to try the plastic handle one then the metal one. The smaller one might be hard to use between there but it’s amazing on carpet

Q: Will this work on leather furniture?

It sure didn't work on fabric. It was very awkward and didn't seem logical. I just think it doesn't work

Q: Can this be used on an extra long shag rug?

I would imagine it could, but I don't know for sure. I live in an apartment but our carpet is actually fairly thick and plush, although I'm not sure it would qualify as an extra long shag rug. Just start off trying it out gradually and see how it does. You might just be better off vacuuming for that. I bought these and I really like them, but I mainly use them to get the fur off the cat trees. There was something on my carpet that was in a little spot and I was able to use this to get it out of the carpet so I was really thrilled about that, but again, I don't know about that type of rug.
