This is a great mic!
Great mic! It looks and feels nice in the hand. The build in wind cut feature is so good, you can be standing outside on a windy day and not hear a thing. To hear wind you have to blow into the mic pretty hard. That being said, the sound quality is top notch and it picks up great. The Reporter is an omnidirectional mic, which is great for interviews, especially when you forget to aim your normal cardioid mic toward your subject. It's long enough to put a mic flag on the shaft, since you really don't want to use the goofy and awkward looking top mounted flag that comes with the mic.I use this mic with a Sennheiser SKP 100 G3 plug-on transmitter, and the sound is fantastic. I couldn't be happier with this purchase!

Durable and Studio Quality
This is an excellent and sleek mic. Great frequency range and has a good pickup range as well. Unlike those types that fall off a few inches from the face. The mic flag is totally awkward though, it sits above the mic itself and in the way. I recommend you buy a standard mic flag that goes around the mic itself and is out-of-the-way.

For the Price, A Very Good Mic For Run-and-Gun Interviews
I've been using this microphone for interviews at trade shows. For the price, it's quite good. It does a nice job at isolating the voices of the interviewer and the subject. It picks up enough environmental noise that the sound isn't sterile, but I wish it picked up a bit less. After 18 months of use in sometimes rugged conditions, it has proven to be quite durable. The included microphone flag is ugly and useless for my purposes. I can't see many people making use of it. I wish Rode included a bunch of windscreens instead. That would have been a much more useful accessory. While there are microphones that sound better, the ones that I know of cost at least twice as much as the Rode Reporter. For the price, it's a good choice for run-and-gun interviews.

Perfect mic for field interviews!
I've always been a fan of RODE mics and have many of them. I needed to do live video streaming interviews at a trade show and these Reporter mics looked exactly like what I needed. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was quite surprised at the richness and quality of the audio they produce.Very tight pick-up patterns pick up voices beautifully without needing to put a mic in someone's face. Great noise rejection for ambient noise but not too much so that it sounds dead. It's a perfect blend of vocal clarity and pleasant ambience. For the price, we got two of them with no regrets. Love these mics!

Works Really Well in High Noise Environments
This is a great mic for conferences or events. As the name implies this Mic is great for reporters. We used it on the show floor at CES and you can't hear the crowd. It was actually kind of disconcerting how well it picked up the voices of the personalities, and how little of the conference you heard. The XLR fitting requires a different cable if you are going to plug this in to your DSLR, but if you have a P2 camera, most of those are set up for XLR.
