Very good, still feels new after a year's use
I've been using chain locks for about 15 years, mostly to lock motorbikes. This is perfect for my bicycle. Very well made, finish is excellent, it feels new or nearly-new after a year. It's quite easy to use; this is a good length to lock frame and rear wheel to a solid object. I have always been able to do that with this chain. You might get away with a shorter one, but I like the flexibility. To carry it, I wrap it around the seat post, locking it to my rear rack in a manner that keeps it clear of my rear mudguard. I pair it with a Kryptonite New York Standard U-lock, also excellent. These locks may have a deterrent quality too, because no-one has even tried to steal my bicycle. The only drawback with this chain is that the lock mechanism is a little bit frustrating to use. The internal bolt will engage after only about a quarter turn of the key. It makes the lock fiddly and difficult to use, because you'll be trying to engage the bolt but without realising it, you've already turned the key far enough to have closed the bolt too early. It must happen to me nearly every day. If you had to turn the key further, like one full rotation, to engage the bolt, it would be a lot easier. But this is a small thing. Overall I think it's an excellent chain lock and also good value for such a great lock.

Review of reviews: The truth on the lock, the weight and the registration of the keys.
Okay I've read a LOT of reviews on this lock. Let me help summarise for you. 1) The key and unlocking: It unlocks just fine. The key has to pass through one or two elements in the chamber to be fully inside. These elements are what adds to the security of the locking system. Once the key has been gently inserted it will open again and again no problem. It truly is pretty damn simple to use and so far I've had no issues with the key. 2) The weight: Its 2.7 kilos. Its got some weight and is a little heavy but it's not weigh your arms down "oh my god" heavy at all. It feels not much heavier than a light bag of groceries to be honest. I was concerned with the reviews and figured... How heavy can 2.7 kgs really be. The answer is I'd happily carry this around in my bag or on my bike. Yes it's not a mega lightweight lock but it's also not an anchor either. My girlfriend is also buying one and she's happy to use it for her bike too. 3) Registering of keys on the Kryptonite website. My girlfriend had my keys registered online for me in the time it took for me to make her a cup of tea. No problem at all. So that hopefully gives you a better idea of the key, weight, and registration. I spent a few days looking at other locks and honestly, Kryptonite are still the market leaders and the small doubts I had about this from reading the reviews were quashed within 5 minutes of opening and using it. Enjoy this great lock for piece of mind... Remember it's not just the insurance payout you want... You just don't want your bike stolen in the first place. Pro tip however... Combine with another lock and never forget if you have quick release wheels to lock them to the frame. One last point is this locks length. It's long enough for me but if you did want a fair amount of length for locking two or three bikes together you might want a longer version... But with more length comes cost and of course more weight. Ride safe

By far the best lock that I've had
Works well; it's robust; does not get clogged with mud/water (given the proper use of the cover); and its length is perfect for hooking both the bike frame and the front wheel to a lamp/bike rack. If you're undecided between the short and long (90cm) locks, choose the long one. I have had no regrets, given that a shorter one would have been a nightmare to lock onto normal street fixtures.

Good, but a bit fiddly
If you want a sturdy bike chain, this is it. The chain is sturdy, feels like it’d be extremely hard to get to. Where it falls short however is the key mechanism - if you’re someone whose used to hopping on and off your bike pretty quickly, this lock is going to get on your nerves. It’s very heavy so does slow you down a bit sometimes, but mostly it’s heaviness gets in the way of locking it up - I’ve found it takes me a while to lock the thing up, especially if you are trying to use it in conjunction with one of kyrtoponites wire things! The keyhole also requires a bit of jiggling, and I found it gets a bit scratchy after a rainshower. There’s rubber bits near the lock... take these off, they are so annoying! All in all, it’s built like a tank, but adds a bit of annoyance when locking up.

Heavy!
Damn, this thing is heavy, which speaks to the difficulty you’d have trying to cut through it. Been happy to leave my bike locked up with this monster wrapped around it. Great item.

Secure enough, bigger than I thought.
I received this quickly and we’ll packaged from Amazon at £60.00 which seems a fair price and weight point for a decent bike lock. Intended use is as a second lock for an ebike (I already have the small evolution D Lock) as I wanted a different “style” of security meaning a thief will need x2 types of cutter and hopefully look elsewhere. The Lock Picking Lawyers recommendation means a lot to me. I knew from package weight this thing was going to be heavy but as I was using x2 d locks before this replaces one reducing the real additional weight. First thoughts are that the actual lock is a fair bit more chunky than I thought from the pics and LPLs video which is presumably a good thing. Krypton it’s key registration service is first class but I’ve not bothered to pay for theft registration as have already insured the bike in any case. Is it impregnable? No of course not but it looks the part and I believe (hope) when I’m using x2 distinctive orange quality locks - of different types - this will prove off putting for the crims out there - we shall see.

Monster Chain and quality lock! But a heavy 3Kg.
It is not hard to use, but I gave it three stars for this as the key way is not as rugged as a padlock…meaning do take a little care inserting the key. Security wise it should be excellent. YouTube’s “Lock Picking Lawyer” held it in some praise (that’s good enough for me) and without special pick tools and skill it will defeat all opportunist thiefs. No lock or device will stop a determined pro with a cordless angle grinder of course, but grinding a chain has to have two chops and a chain notoriously hops about making it difficult. ‘D’ or ‘U’ clamps are easier to grind through. Bolt cutters might do it…but its a 10mm chain so they’d have to be real big ones. The drawback..apart from a hefty 60 pounds GBP is the also hefty weight…almost 3Kg. Nearly half the weight of a top end road bike, but no problem for an e-bike or moped to carry. Out for a bike ride?…Leave this big chain at home. Going to the shops for fifteen minutes and your bike is your baby? Take this monster of a protector with you or hire an armed body guard for your bike.

Strong stuff!
This thing is solid. It must be the bane of every bike thief. Of course like all locks it can eventually be broken into but due to the moving parts and thick metal links, this would be a real challenging lock to break. It does have its cons though. It is pretty heavy but that is as expected if you want a solid lock. The chain can be a little fiddly to actually loop through your frame and wheels. A D lock is much quicker to lock up. I also found that the fabric really doesn't hold up and it will fray over time so don't expect it to look great forever. In addition, the fabric loves to pick up grease from my chain which means 80% of the time I pick it up I get a grease stain on my hand. This can be fixed by washing the chain I suppose. I still would strongly recommend this lock if you want good security for the bike.
