not impressed...
Blu Ray player was defective when it arrived. New one sent out for me to replace. Broke a delicate retaining plastic clip for the front face of the drive. Enquired as to a new one which I was advised would cost me £20 then all of a sudden they weren't available (yet I still see they sell the very same machines even till now!).Now about 2 months ago the laptop started to over heat and crash within minutes of starting up... Can only make it run if I get to an application I installed to run the fans at 100%. If I don't get to this app' on start up the machine will crash and then its an hour of restarting/crashing!?!?! And if there's a windows update on restart it goes round in a circle until it restores to a previous version?!?!?Ted from HID stated he'd get one of his colleagues to contact me so I missed a telephone call at around 10pm in the evening. Too late for me after a 12 hour shift so requested that they communicate via email... Which hasn't happened. Two and a half grand for a laptop that hasn't lasted a year!??!?!They're pushing this to the point where the year guarantee is up then I'm assuming they'll turn round and state it's not their responsibility due to being over one year old!!Would I recommend? Not really...

20 months on roughly for work not gaming
Got this for work, previously a specked up Dell Precision M6600 (which I loved/love), could not wait for replacement this has not disappointed though I prefer the Precision, running Inventor Professional (Product Design Suite), Autodesk Simulation CFD & Mechanical along with Robot Structural Analysis Professional....It's not a Precision but over 20 months in and I'm not disappointed either (bit loud on the appearance if you have to use in a meeting), all in in all a very good buy that has fulfilled my mobile processing requirements....good kit...well done ASUS and it's not your fault I wanted it for business rather than gaming and movies ....very good buy for me and excellent service.Would be really nice to be able to tone the orange bits down to grey though or black!

... Asus ROG for over a year now and still love it.
I have had my Asus ROG for over a year now and still love it..great to play games on because of the large screen and good graphics, plus very fast and good to look at. I also use it for Office, Facebook, Twitter, photographs, streaming, music and sometimes downloading TV programmes. I love the huge keyboard (USA) and the lighting behind the keys....Intel Core 17 and Geforce GTX. Brilliant screen, and lots of features......My favourite laptop and I have four of them....only my specialty made by tech guys desk top is faster. I recommend it now I have used it for a year.

I've had it for 2 months now and there's nothing I can complain about. Will update this if this changes. [2 Year update:] Using it as I'm typing this review. Very pleased with it. I've managed to break a couple of buttons while playing FIFA and had to order some spares for a around 50-ish pounds, but that's the only problem I've had with it. Very very pleased with it. Been doing software development with SDK, VM, lots of browser tabs open and playing FIFA while smashing the buttons because my reptilian brain thinks it will make the footballers run faster. 10/10 would buy again. [4 and a half year upadte:] Still working well; broke another 2 buttons since last review, so I suppose there is a pattern here with the keys not being the most resilient if you overuse them; Then again, a broken button every year isn't the worst problem in the world. Happy with everything else about it, been using it consistently fo both gaming and software development. I'd expect I'll still be using it a couple of years from now too.

To my disappointment as a loyal ASUS ROG buyer (3rd ROG in ...
I always buy ROG laptops and the perform seamlessly. To my disappointment as a loyal ASUS ROG buyer (3rd ROG in my possession) was that this laptop didn't come with a mouse, laptop bag as my previous ones. Plus the "U" key was faulty since day one and its still coming out. I do not know if this is an ASUS issue or seller issue, actually it should be both since both parties had to check the integrity of the laptop before delivering it. I can not really prove this but laptop was meant to be delivered to me on a Friday for a deadline, instead it was delivered to the apartment block across the street without even notifying me, I had to go online on customer support so that they could call the driver and ask him where the laptop is. You can imagine my frustration that day as my 2300 pound laptop was left alone in a dodgy UK apartment corridor without being signed off by anyone. The laptop box was tampered with by the seller so that to change the power supply unit as it was for UK specifications. I don't think it is worth buying laptops like that from amazon, especially amazon.co.uk. I find Amazon.ca and amazon.com more reliable as they have better suppliers and sellers and you can get this equivalent laptop with just 2000 dollars, where as i paid 2300pounds for this beast.

The Beast
A real monster of a notebook: it's super fast, powerful and quiet. I bought it for office and graphic editing (Photoshop etc) applications. Only cons are size and weight - this thing is HUGE! But that's exactly what makes it an excellent replacement for a desktop, while remaining portable with minimal desk footprint.

Great Laptop
I love this machine! It's very fast, despite Windows's usual bloatware but overall I'm very excited about this laptop! It can virtually play anything you can think of with these graphics and I just love it !I love the 17'' display, compared to my previous laptop this is definitely a massive upgrade!!One con about the manufacturing is that it's extremely heavy.Other than that it's perfect! Also it arrived by 22 July as stated, which is great!

Powerful, Headphones should be considered for better sound.
A fantastic powerful laptop. Only thing that I didn't like about it was the SOUND, but was able to improve it by changing some of the sound settings. Still not the best sound though, especially for the price. Sound is okay with headphones.
