Q: Is it possible to print them without trays? i have epson wf4630 and cant find a tray for it. hesitant about just buying and giving a try without it.

It could be possible - but it's certain to be fraught with problems. You can currently find one of these Canon printers on Amazon for less than $100: MG5420, MG5422, MG6320, MG7120, iP7220, MG7520, MX922. Q: Would these work for writing on them with a dry-erase marker? Are they white-board-ish plastic?

If you are looking to erase the marker after writing on them, you would want normal (non-inkjet) cards. These cards have a special coating on them which allows them to absorb ink. Once absorbed though it will not come off.
