Honest review by someone who has used this a few times - Great if used correctly
I play snooker often so on average I probably change my snooker cue tip, about every two months. The process of reducing the tip diameter once in place on the cue would take a while using the traditional method of a bit of sandpaper. It was never ideal and there was always the fear that you would take a bit of the ferrule at the same time or worse, a bit the cue itself. For the price this is a really good tool. It slips over the tip and shaves the edge of the tip much the same as a big pencil sharpener. However, there are a couple of things you need to be cautious of. Firstly as there is a bit of a lip at the opening of the hole where the tip goes in, when this is against the side of the cue and pressure is applied as the sharpener is rotated, it can put an indentation around the cue shaft. I took a bit of sandpaper to the lip on the sharpener and took it down a bit. Additionally I also now use a bit of tape around the wood part of the cue tip to protect it a bit. Secondly, you need to hold the sharpener in a way so the blade is flat against the side of tip as it is rotated. This makes sure you get a nice straight result that follows the natural shape if the end of the cue.Use a bit of caution when in use and this a great little tool to have, especially at this price.

Perfect tool for the job.
After fitting a new tip, I always seemed to over-compensate when it came to trying to shape the tip (to the shaft of the cue) using just sandpaper or other curved shaping tools.Because of it price, I bought this on the off chance to see if it was any better. It is surprisingly effective. One word of caution - Be patient, let the blade do the work, don't push too hard (you run the risk of removing the tip). The opening is cone shaped, and I found that if I held the shaft of the cue toward the blade, this would remove any tip excess, giving a perfect finish. If I held the shaft of the cue away from the blade, this would shape the tip evenly. I would the finish off the shaping of the tip with another curved tip shaper, such as the Peradon Supafile cue tip shaper.

Good product
Very pleased with Tip Shaper. It is perfect for shaping a new tip but handy for trimming as tip beds in. The trouble with sanding only from new is over time the shaft ferule wears down. You can cut close to the ferule at any angle without damaging it. I still use sandpaper as well to shape tip.
