Works Great!
I was in the process of welding a bunch of batteries using a BIFRC small welder. It did OK but I was not happy with the consistency of the welds and it sometimes did not seem to provide enough power to secure a good weld. Some nickel strips would easily come off where others seemed fine. I was in the middle of welding when I turned off the machine to cut more strips. When I went to turn it back on, it would not turn on. Since I needed to finish the job, I ordered this unit. More money than I spend on the BIFRC but it had more control options. Well I received the unit, charged per instructions and went at welding again. What a difference. Using .015 nickel strips, and the recommended setting of 20, duration of .5 seconds. I was able to securely and consistently attach all the strips to the batteries without burn through or crappy welds. The sound of each weld sounded distinct. Like a "click" where you know it was a good weld. No burn out on the tips, just consistent strong welds. Hopefully this will last much longer than the last one.

Updated Review: The first unit stopped working but the replacement unit works great
Please read my updated review below.Original Review:The welder only worked for about 20-25 welds before it stopped responding and never worked again. The customer service address listed in the manual never responded to multiple emails. When I first unpacked and tested the welder, I was impressed by the build quality and ease of use of the device. However, after fully charging the device to the recommended levels and making some test welds before I started my battery project, it stopped welding entirely. When it did work, it made beautiful welds on 0.2mm pure nickel strips from a reputable supplier. I was able to dial in the power settings easily to attain strong welds. However it only made about 20-25 total welds before it simply stopped working. The device was still above the recommended charge level, but it simply stopped responding when touching the welding needles to the nickel strips. I've let the device rest for several days and tried again. The display still lights up like it is working, but it just will not weld.I sent multiple emails to the customer service email address listed in the manual, but I have never received a response.Between the unreliability of this device and the lack of any response from the manufacturer's customer service department, I recommend that you do not purchase this welder.Updated Review Dec 9, 2023:After leaving my initial review, the manufacturer got in contact and offered me a choice between a refund or a replacement. I chose the replacement and they sent one out right away. The new unit is working great. It welds different thicknesses of nickel strips beautifully once you dial in the power settings. Full power will blow right through even 0.20mm strips of pure nickel, but you can easily reduce the power down to make nice welds on 0.20mm, 0.15mm or even 0.10mm strips.I am definitely much happier with the replacement unit but I still wish the manufacturer would respond to emails sent to the customer service address listed in the manual.

This is a good one.
I seen so many of these that were battery powered. I didn't want one like that, because I'm not using it on the go. I'm sitting in one place using it, so I wanted one that plugged in so I knew it would always have the power I needed. With that said. Idk if it's like this with other ones but it was to charge up before you can use it. It takes like about 20mins the first time you use it. If you use it daily it won't be that long. But it has to be above 5v to spot weld. Then you better know how thick your nickel strips are. So you get a good weld. If it's turned up to much. You'll burn right through like nothing. So it is powerful. But I've put four 16650 12v battery packs together with it. When spot welding to a BMS board. Turn power way down to like 10 or less.Works fantastic otherwise.

Apply decent pressure, this spot welder works!
I tested a few spot welders of different types. The capacitor type seems the best by far. And this one didn't disappoint. It spot welds .2 nickel strip with ease. I bet it can spot weld twice that. I noticed that to light of pressure blows holes in the substrate. Learned that the hard way. The first one I received had something loose and rattling around inside. It never worked properly. I got it replaced quickly without any trouble. The replacement didn't have any rattling inside and works car better than I expected. I used this to rebuild some old 20v dewalt battery packs, upgrading them with much better cells and saving money, having some fun too.

It was great when it worked
Made beautiful welds when it worked. After 1hr of use, bunch of sparks came out of it and that was it. Amazon sent me a replacement unit that was dead out of the box.

A major and minor problem
The major problem is that the 12 volts 4 Amps power-supply that came with the unit, died the second time I plugged it into the 110 VAC socket. The blue LED did not light up. Luckily I had a spare 12 volts 5 Amps power-supply that I used. Now the spot welder is working very well. I would have given it 5 stars if the major part of the product worked well.
