Upgrade for Dyson V7+V8 Battery Adapter Replacement, for Makita 18V Battery Work for Dyson V7/V8 Series Vacuum Cleaner (V7 V8 Common)

This works great - exactly what I was looking for since I already have Makita 5.0Ah 18V batteries and my Dyson's old battery had degraded to only lasting 5 minutes. Just an FYI that the adapter comes with zero instructions on how to uninstall the old battery and install the adapter, so I've included a couple of picts for other folks trying to figure out how this works. All you'll need is a size #0 Phillips screwdriver (bonus points if you have a right angle one as the screw on the handle was kind of tight to get to). Just undo the 3 screws (see picts). You have to open the trap door on the bottom to get at 2 of them. Pull down on the old battery to remove it from the inside of the handle. Load the adapter up into the handle and screw the 3 screws back in. Attach your Makita battery. Dispose of your old battery responsibly. Easy peasy.

We couldn't do the whole house with the dyson battery, But now we can do the whole house, I see that I use a 5ah Battery and we change it once and do the whole house. The vacuum stops working at 2 bars on the battery. But that's because it's an 18 V. And the vacuum is a 21 volt. We were gonna buy a whole new vacuum, but this is awesome. We don't have to buy a new vacuum and now can do the whole house.

Here's something I didn't consider. this product makes it so this vacuum no longer fits in the charging base. Strike ONE! It hardly sits or rests on anything and is stable, so I had no idea what to do with it when I added this base and the battery. However, it worked fine the first few uses, but then it started cutting off immediately upon turning it on. Almost like it was overheating. When I requested support, I ended up in a chat where I was told that my makita battery was 18v and the Dyson vacuum is 21.6v therefore it was not meant to run this product. So this was his way of saying that I made a mistake and he was telling me I need to get the proper battery and referred me to a similar product that accepted a 20v DeWalt battery. Obviously, that wasn't a solution nor did it makes sense, but if he's right then this product shouldn't even be sold. Then I got another person in chat and was bumped to a phone call which eventually lead to them offering me a return with a restocking fee or an offer to exchange for the exact same product that may be flawed. I opted to pay the fee and challk it up as oppose to risk damaging my Makita battery or my Dyson vacuum with this product. Yet, it doesn't seem right that I'd only get a partial refund if this product is doomed to fail. If you are debating a used product likely listed in good or very good condition and it's shortly after I wrote this. Me have little faith. Likely, that is my product back on the shelf. Set it back down. Walk away. I'd be surprised if this review makes it through, but if it does, and somehow you dig it out from the bottom where they bury the other ones AND you are one of the very few who may read it, vote it up if you feel I'm being honest and if you think it may help others. GLAD I BOUGHT THIS ADAPTER!!! I’ve have a Dyson V7 animal+ for few years using it on a daily basis having a German shepherd, 2 cats & 2 kittens. After years of satisfactory service, I notice a shorter running time. Didn’t want to pay the high price of an oem replacement battery and wanted something that I could switch batteries easily and increased running time. I have Makita 3.0ah 18volt batteries…Power is great and long run time. Have no problem using it on max, shorter run time and will stop after showing one of four light bars. Time will tell, but for now, glad I did this diy change…

Super easy to install. I ran a stale 5ah battery for 10+ minutes straight. I filled the bucket in that time. I don’t even think the battery was fully dead. I think the vacuum has a built in safety shut off when it’s too hot. I could feel heat being generated around the handle after 6 minutes or so. But if you let it cool for about 30seconds it’ll keep going.

I installed this on a dc7 after my second battery wouldnt last a minute. I use a 5.0ah makita battery and it last a while, even works down to 2 battery lights, might go longer but i havnt tried. Fits in the wall charger mount with the charger part flipped up and no battery installed. Well worth it!

I am happy to get more runtime from my Dyson v8 using my makita batteries. Functions great like this. I do wish this would fit in the wall mount holder when the battery is out like it does with the standard Dyson battery.
