Why can't I get the ice cubes out without manhandling the silicone trays?

I had the same issue.... needless to say I no longer own those ice cube trays. They were more work than they were worth.

Are the ice cubes made from these considered mini cubes or just a little smaller than regular cubes?

They are about the size of a standard sugar cube. I would consider them to be mini cubes. We have fresh citrus and I freeze it with these for use later in homemade salad dressings etc. Hope this answer helps you.

how many teaspoons per cube?

A little less than 2 full tsp per cube

Seems to be. I never use heated dry, though, so can't comment on the plastic part in that setting.
