MK Essentials 20AX 1G DP Switch with NEON - Water

In our house, MK switches were always seen as a sign of quality and despite it no longer being a British owned company (they are now owned by Honeywell, an American company), they don't seem to have sacrificed on the quality of the switches i.e. they remain as strong and robust as ever.This review is for a 20A single gang, double pole switch (for an immersion heater - it has "WATER HEATER" printed on the front plate), with a neon light. This switch should hopefully be a like for like replacement design for your existing switches. The switch also operates with a very satisfying click, so you can't mistake when you've pushed it.Unlike many older switches, this switch comes in two distinct parts, the first containing the main electronic components of the switch and the second being a removable faceplate. The advantage of a removable faceplate is that it can be used to cover up the screws attaching the switch to the wall, thus making it look slightly tidier.Crucially, it is very easy to install (provided you are comfortable working with electronic circuits, as to do otherwise, would be extremely dangerous) and all fixings are included, being the screws to hold both the electric wires and for fixing it to the wall. However, the backing box for inserting into the wall and attaching the switch to, in the case that it is a new rather than replacement switch, is not included.One thing I would point out is that in the picture, the switch is a large red button, whereas in reality, it is only about half the size and is white. However, all other aspects remain the same, including the size of the face plate.Overall, I would highly recommend this switch, if this is what you need.

Robust look and feel with an easy fit/easy remove screwless design and nice clean lines thanks to the screwless look.Feels and looks like the materials and design are good quality and I know from previous research that the manufacturer supplies various switches to the trade and DIYers and its products appear to be widely used.

Simple to install, has all the fittings necessary. Quite clean looking

This is a fantastic new product range from MK which i really like. The connection block is very well thought through and built of high quality materials. The switch is douple pole and designed to have the cable egress through a seperate plate. The very positive rocker though is not red, it is the same white/Ivory as per plate and shroud; it has a small rectangular red flash paint on the face of one side of the rocker to reflect on status indication. The terminal block does stand proud from the plate by 20mm. The design is a shroud to cover the screws that are in the plate which has two lugs near the corners at the bottom of the 85mm x 85mm plate which enable you to take this shroud off for decorating. The plate allows for slight unevenness in the plaster. It will need a deep pattress of at least 35mm if not more as the cables come out of the top/back of the block. The neon wires are seperate leads so you can configure as you please. I am totally happy to highly recommend this product (& range). Andrew

Rated at 20A with inbuilt neon and marked up with water heater so there is no mistaking what it is for.
