Banjo Rebooted
Growing up playing platforming games like Banjo Kazooie, I was excited to see a modern game from the original developers. Playing Yooka Laylee provides an enjoyable trip down memory lane and shows that there is still life in this genre of games. The gameplay, the dialogue and the sense of humour are all very similar to the style from Banjo Kazooie and make for a refreshing change from the usual Xbox offerings. The camera issues discussed pre-release have largely been addressed and the occasional glitches do nothing to spoil the enjoyment of playing the game.If you are looking for a slightly different game to play, for either children or adults, Yooka Laylee is highly recommended as a nostalgic throwback to platformers of the 90s or a great introduction to an under-appreciated genre of gaming.

Really great game.
A really wonderful, colourful and fun, 'collectathon' platform game, a type that hasn't been seen in a while and was sorely missed. It brings back a wonderful nostalgia to all us Banjo Kazooie and Spyro fans, with the same kind of humour, enemies and items to collect through the many worlds that you open and explore. The worlds are opened via Tomes or giant books which can be expanded on later within the game. You collect Pagies to expand these books, as well as many goodies within the worlds. The over world is a factory setting owned by the baddie, with the old favourite switches and doors to expand that area. The plot is simple but engaging enough to throw you into the game quickly. The graphics are very colourful, smooth and really fit the game style well. The controls are easy for adults and children alike. There have also been no bugs or glitches that I have encountered, I understand many did within the first month or so of playing, however these seem to have been fixed.Nevertheless I have dropped it a star as there is such a thing as too much nostalgia. At many points it feels a bit lazy, rehashing ideas rather than adding anything new. At first the similar music to Banjo was great, the similar voices, the similar characters... the similar worlds... the similar personalities. This all got a little disappointing, and sometimes even a little annoying. We wanted a new platform game of old, not the same one we already have.To sum up: The fun is certainly there and it is a really great game, full of wonder, weirdness and humour. The nostalgia is nice, if it sometimes feels a bit like laziness. A nod towards the past games would have been better than simply trying to rehash them. 4/5 Definitely worth the play and hopefully worth a sequel.

Classic 3D platformer with a fresh coat of paint
If you were a fan of Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, Super Mario 64 or any other 3D platform title on the Nintendo 64, you will love Yooka Laylee. It's been developed by a bunch of ex-Rare staff who have poured their love of this abandoned genre into an excellent new adventure.Sure, it didn't have the budget of today's blockbuster titles and as a result you might find the camera clunky at times, larger than expected hit-boxes or other minor issues, but this did not spoil my enjoyment of the game whatsoever. The 'voice-acting' that another reviewer complained about is a throwback to Banjo-Kazooie, a reference he might not have recognised and although the random nattering dialogue might get boring after a while most dialogue can be skipped through. The game is full of collectables, easter eggs, throwbacks and nostalgia for the older gamers, so at a launch price of £28 I can wholeheartedly recommend Yooka Laylee.

It's got some charm.
It's cute and charming, but it's trying too hard (and failing, at that) to be Banjo-Kazooie.I'd suggest getting Banjo-Kazooie instead, it's much better.

A sub par game and a real Kickstarter pledge disappointment
Just over a year ago i pledged my 15 notes for this game , and from some of the team of some N64 classic's i was looking forward to this.Well seems a year and 15 notes wasted , dont think i will be playing this much , poor graphics , would not look out of place on the N64poor camera angles and sub game objectives , better games on Xbox Store or even Pre-owned classic's would be a much better investment.

Playtronic deliver pure platforming perfection
Im a huge fan of platformers always have been and for me, Playtronic have delivered on they're promise as this game is a time capsule of a period of console gaming which they have made to perfection. The second you load this up the player is teleported straight back to an unduly forgotten era of brightly coloured worlds, crazy characters who make non sensical noises, floating platforms the great days of the N64.As with all games of this era the game is very challenging and pure and simple pick up and play and get collecting.I don't understand the mixed reception of the game in my view Playtronic have delivered for me a great flashback to time and genre of gaming i truly love.

Poor gameplay
Worst game I've played on the xBox. Literally nonsense, never ending inane dialogue before you even get to any gameplay which itself is very poor. 2 player mode is pathetic and entails jumping around catching icons for points, woopee-do. Feels like the budget for developing this game was peanuts. Save your money and buy Rocket League or Plants v Zombies instead

Platform vecchio stile!
