Great looking sink w/ Major Issues
The aesthetics of the sink are great however be prepared to clean up a lot of splashes surrounding the sink area. The basin could really benefit from another 1-2” of depth. I love the hydro turbine so that it doesn’t require batteries/plug in cord.My list of cons and design/manufacturing flaws is quite long. I’m the owner of this as well as the tradesman that installed this sink. I will attempt to cover them all here but it will probably be easier in a video.1) The faucet base had a 1/16” gap when installed to the sink flange. I filled/sealed this with soft set plumbers putty but it should’ve come with some type of silicone gasket. Otherwise you’ll have dirty water and moldy food bits hiding underneath.2) The stainless steel is quite thick which is nice and indicates quality. However because of its thickness and the hard angle design, the fabrication of the basin to the flange required welding rather than a press (think sinks of thinner metal with rounded corners). Why does this matter? When you weld the extreme 2000 degree heat distorts and warps the metal (I also weld in addition to my carpentry and cabinetry skills). So…. the manufacturing created an issue where flanges of the short L/R sides are warped and have a 1/8” - 3/32” gap which I could only achieve a satisfactory seal with silicone rather than a soft set plumbers putty*.*I know there are many that have had success with silicone and setting sinks. In my experience it has always eventually failed. Every time. Soft set plumbers putty when used properly has never failed in my experience. Primarily because it is a soft set and does not dry out in the same manner silicone does. For me this was a big con.3) THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO SECURE THE BASIN TO THE COUNTER. My wife absolutely loves the design so my Aspy hyper focus saved this item being returned. There is no channel for sink clip nor any other type of hook or lip or anything to attach to. I had to go to serious lengths to install this in a secure and professional manner.4) When I ordered this there was an option for the rear flange to have NO CUT OUTS. Just a smooth flat piece of metal left of the faucet. After a month of shipping I received a sink with the knife cut which would have more acceptable if it had at least included a smooth cover plate if one didn’t want to have their clean cutlery stored where they clean/dirty greasy dishes. For our kitchen this cut out created greater issues as we planned on adding a glass rinser and RO filter faucet. So the knife storage created real problems not to mention an additional drain to deal with when making the plumbing connections (again this will all be easier to explain in the video).5) The alignment on the drain hole cut to the stamp is off enough to make getting a water tight seal difficult. I had to really lay in a thick rope of the soft set plumbers putty and over tighten the connection at which point I had soft set squeezing out for a month. Every few days I would trim the excess with a blade.6) The overflow drain is unnecessary and should also come with a cover plate. All this does is introduce another potential point of failure (leakage).7) The slope of the sink could benefit from another ~2 degrees so there’s less standing water that doesn’t make it into the drain. We started keeping a small vinyl/wallpaper squeegee near by to clear leftover water.8) The finish has weird speckling (almost like needle pricks) throughout the brushed surfaces which was difficult to see in the listing photos)Overall this sink is of a very poor design quality and with amount of installation difficulty coupled with multiple points of failure it should not be over $300.*When I have more time I will add a video covering all of these points. The picture order made more sense when I uploaded but was rearranged by the Amazon algo.
