Butterfly sizzles, fumes and entertains in this 4th edition as well
#BookReviewWhen Author Moni Mohsin announced the release of the 4th Book in the Butterfly Series, I immediately snapped it up.Having relished Butterfly's escapades in the 3 earlier books and this one having released after a fair gap I was looking forward and not disappointed at all.Butterfly (whose real name we dont know) , a high flying rich Pakistani gossipy socialite has her own complex problems such as outclassing her rich Indian friends, holidaying and partying at the most happening places, worrying about getting not getting her hair done during covid and more. The World and Pakistan maybe grappling with weighty issues of Power politics, economic bailouts, covid deaths, brexit, border wars etc but they seldom touch Butterfly's world though she has strong opinions on everything and everyone. All other leading characters 'Janoo' her husband, 'Kulchoo' her son, her friends Sunny and Mullo , Mummy are all there as well. This book covers the period 2014 to 2021 which includes key events like Imran Khan becoming PM, Donald Trump's treatment of Pakistan, border wars with India and Covid among other internal social and political issues.Like all the butterfly books before, Moni offers an insightful nuanced view of Pakistan both internally and externally..a valuable viewpoint of the neighbour we love to hate but with whom we share more in common than we realize perhaps?Enjoyed thoroughly!

Light and a fun read
Always a treat to read Moni Mohsin..but my all time favourite is still "A life of a social butterfly" by the same author. Such a light and humourous read

A gossipy tale on Pakistani society
An easy, breezy read. A satirical view on Pakistani society and how the rich live. At times felt like a film magazine from the 90s. Have a look at the picture and decide if this is your mood.

Not as good as the authors previous books
More like a diary though the quirky sense of humour is retained not as engrossing as the previous novels
