Deck Ideas that Work (Taunton's Ideas That Work)

I had checked this book out at the library and like it because it had updated ideas and photos. There are so many options we have now that we did not just a few years ago (cable rails, etc.). The photos are great, the ideas are up to date and it gave me great inspiration for my own deck project.

I’m planning a deck and love this book because it both expands your thinking and helps you narrow down your choices.On one hand the author shares insights that might not occur to you about style, layout, traffic flow, sightlines, lighting, railings, etc., the nuances of materials (”the warmth of wood, the self-assurance of metal”), and what’s working about the decks in the ton of beautiful photos that show the range of possibilities.On the other hand his one-page comparisons of decking materials, doors, furniture, etc. help you quickly rule stuff in or out.All together the book was very helpful in envisioning and moving forward on a deck that will be much better for having read it.

This book gave me all kinds of ideas about what my deck will look like. I couldn’t envision a deck of any kind. After looking at this wonderful book, I now have several ideas of what I want my deck to look like!
