The older stud finder I had used in the past just did not reliably scan the heavy plaster wall in my 68 year old house. I didn't want to cut into my entry hallway wall near a door frame without knowing whether the new box I needed to install would fit between the studs and any fire blocks.Good thing this unit was able to accommodate the 1+" thick wall and find the obstructions I believed were lurking there. With that information I was able to change my original placement for the box only slightly to the right, thereby avoiding a doubled stud and two fireblocks. I was able to get it to fit perfectly.Very good choice.

Highly recommend
I needed this product to find studs in a plastered wall to hang a radiator, this did the hob brilliantly and also highlighted where wires ran through the wall so I didn't make any errors. It's easy to use even for me who is new to DIY. Brilliant product, easy to use, light weight but durable and helped find the centre of the stud wall so easy. I'd recommend this product due to its accuracy, ease of use, price and great delivery service.
