Is this meant to have transformer with it as didn’t come with one

You have two options. Use batteries or a transformer. The transformer must anything between 8 & 16v. That will be cheap and easy to source. I use it with Nest Hello (must be between 16 & 24v) but the 16v transformer I bought specifically for it outputs 18v and the Chime no longer operates. If you have purchased the Chime for Nest Hello then sourcing the transformer is the tricky bit. I'm on my 3rd transformer. 1st miss sold as had no 16v option, 2nd failed after 4 days and the current one outputs at 18v on the 16v setting and 14v on the 12v setting.
