They work well! Improved my MK1 / NA MX5 / Eunos Roadster speaker's noticeably.
These have improved the sound quality of my car speakers noticeably, as the car only has a single door speaker each side it's well worth the cost of the product and time to install. They also have the added benefit of protecting the speaker connector from any rainwater that may get inside the gap between the window and door (is an old car, so this gap is more significant than a newer car)Importantly, you must cut a small section out of the bottom of the rounded part, to allow for the movement of air, if you don't do this, you will muffle the speakers, not improve them.

Unleash Crystal-Clear Sound with Boom Mat Speaker Baffles 🔊🎵✨
Unleash Crystal-Clear Sound with Boom Mat Speaker Baffles 🔊🎵✨As an audiophile, I understand the importance of delivering exceptional sound quality, and that's why I was intrigued by the Design Engineering 050310 Boom Mat Speaker Baffles. These unassuming yet powerful components promise to take your audio experience to new heights, and after putting them to the test, I can confidently say they deliver on that promise.Right out of the box, I was impressed by the quality construction of these speaker baffles. The closed-cell polyethylene material not only enhances frequency response for improved sound clarity but also provides a water-tight protective shell, safeguarding your speakers from moisture intrusion. It's a thoughtful design that ensures your investment lasts for years to come. One of the standout features of these baffles is their ability to isolate the correct frequency responses while damping reverberation in the sheet metal and panel to frame resonance. This innovative technology effectively prevents sound from migrating to unfavorable areas in your vehicle, ensuring that every note and beat reaches your ears with pristine clarity. 🎶Installation was a breeze thanks to the baffles' easy conformability in tight spaces. Whether you're working on a compact car or a spacious SUV, these baffles can be seamlessly integrated into your audio setup, delivering a professional-grade installation without the hassle. But what truly sets these speaker baffles apart is their performance. From the moment I fired up my audio system, I was blown away by the rich, dynamic sound that filled the cabin. Every instrument, every vocal, every nuance was rendered with breathtaking detail and precision. It was as if a veil had been lifted, revealing the true depth and complexity of my favorite tracks. 🎻🥁However, no product is perfect, and there is one minor drawback worth mentioning. While the 4" round size is perfect for most applications, those with larger speaker setups may need to explore alternative sizes or configurations to achieve the same level of performance.Overall, the Design Engineering 050310 Boom Mat Speaker Baffles are a must-have for anyone serious about achieving the best possible audio experience. Whether you're a seasoned audiophile or simply someone who appreciates high-quality sound, these baffles will elevate your listening experience to new heights. 🏆Embrace the power of crystal-clear audio, and let the Boom Mat Speaker Baffles transport you to a world of sonic bliss. Your ears (and your soul) will thank you for this investment in audio perfection. 🔊🌟

Make sure you know you really need them
I've ordered two sets of these Boom Mats (6x9 and 4 inch). All arrived on time and well packed, but... After installing it on my car with amplified 6x9 JBL GTO 938 elliptic speakers, I didn't notice any sound quality improvement apart from new rattle sound. As someone said previously, they are good if you have amplified sub-woofer and cut your boom mat protected speakers HPF to at least 125Hz as otherwise mat volume (like litres and cubic inches) restriction won't allow them to move as freely as they should. If you allow your speakers to reproduce full frequency range with these mats, they will be torn apart very quickly. The thing I did notice same day is my JBLs started to overheat, when listened on moderate to high volumes. 4" boom mats didn't even fit my 10cm holes... All of the above makes 50 euro investment an absolute waist of money as I had to cut holes in these mats to fit them and they are not going to be replaced... It is not what I have expected, but it is all my fault - learn from it. :)

This will choke the life out of your speakers
Great concept but fundamentally flawed; speakers move air in order to create sound and by removing all of the space in which a speaker can operate, you're greatly reducing the volume of air (and therefore the volume of your music) that the speaker can move. Ripped this stuff out of a Mazda MX5 MK3 and the difference is exponential. At max volume the tweeters were way louder than the 6.5 inch components in the door with the Boom mat behind them, with the mat removed the system sounds just as it should with plenty of depth and midrange kick. The speakers in the install are Focals 165's, so quite an expensive speaker. In short - don't buy this snake oil, if you're worried about your speakers getting exposed to the elements then protect them with some sort of membrane.
