Twists and turns to figure out the killer!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I love the K-9 Unit stories and "Hutch" doesn't disappoint. The characters feel real the reader generally stays engaged until the end of the story. I like how Luke was able to find out what he truly wants to do with his life, all while learning how to take care of his infant son, and to protect him from a predator. The reader can empathize with Danika the smart, logical and a caring young officer who manages to solve this difficult case.I only marked it down to 4 stars because a couple of things I found somewhat annoying.1) The feelings between Danika and Luke were obvious early on and predictable. It didn't feel like there was much development of the "getting to know you stage" of a relationship in the short time they had together. And the words attributed to their "thoughts" about each other were sometimes repetitive and felt a bit contrived.2) The other annoyance was the religious text. A quick prayer thanking for the food, etc. before eating is certainly fine, as is the prayer to keep everyone safe. However, three pages of religious conversation got close to proselytizing, and the numerous repetitions of mostly the same words asking G-d to keep them safe just began to interrupt the flow of the story, was distracting and a bit intrusive or me.I like Ms. Scott's writing, but I would hope that she remembers that her readers come with a variety of religions and don't need to be "talked down to" if they are different from hers.Otherwise, the book had a good storyline, and I am still looking forward to another of her k-9 Unit stories, and would recommend this one if you like a good, clean mystery.

Mysteries and K-9s and more!
I love K-9 stories and this one takes place around Rainier National Park in Washington. More than one mystery to be solved, with twists and turns. I really enjoyed it! Continuing the series…

great read
Always love Laura, Scott, she always writes a book that doesn’t have a bunch of words just to fill the pages. Keep you in suspense to the very end. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Very suspenseful
Laura Scott did an amazing job with this work. Danica and her K-9 partner Hutch make an amazing pair. Trying to solve two murders they also get involved protecting a dad baby boy from would be kidnapper. To much action to tell but get this book and read it. If you like murder, sneaky attacks, and changed identity, suspense, and intrigue you will love this book

Action Packed
Officer Danica Hayes and her dog Hutch find themselves working to solve a double murder while protecting the victim's brother and his infant son.A heartwarming and engaging adventure, with wonderful characters that were easy to cheer for. I loved how Danica's dog Hutch adores baby Caden and is very protective of him.The first in a new series, this was a fun read, with great relationship building and interaction throughout. A little lighter on suspense than typical in these books, I didn't mind at all as it was still very enjoyable and the dog's love of the baby was so cute!Overall a great read, I liked how Luke was inspired to be a better man for his son and grew in his faith. This was a very entertaining read, and a great start to a series!I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Enjoyed it
If you like mystery suspense books this one is perfect for you. I enjoyed reading as Officer Danica and her K-9 slowly but surely worked on figuring out how attempted to kidnap a baby and keep Luke and the child safe. Luke is still dealing witht he shock of the child's mother but also learning to take care of the child as well and its been a journey for him as he also tries to keep his child safe from who ever keeps making attempts at him and overall I enjoyed seeing how everything played out.
