Q: Is this comparable to cricut mini easy press?

Yes, has 3 temp settings. Mini press great for small stuff like hats, masks, baby or toddler clothes, etc. Heats up nice!

Q: can I use this to put a vinyl design on a Kraft (paper) journal cover?

If your using vinyl you dont need a heat press. Only heat transfer vinyl (htv) needs a heat press. If the journal cover is paper use regular vinyl without a press.

Q: Does it work on HTV projects?

Yes, it does. I have tried it. It also can be used for sublimation transfer.

Q: I haven't seen this brand before. Does anyone tell me that how it is different from the name brand?

I had a Cricut one, and I bought this about 2 months ago. I was surprised that I can't tell the big difference between it and the Cricut heat press machine, they both work well for my projects. Maybe this brand has more color options? But obviously, this one has a better price.
