Last three years.
First one stopped turning on. I loved it when it worked. Replaced with a new unit. Using it for rotator cuff repair. For the price, nice ice machine.

Good for about 6 hours
Does a great job of cooling a new knee. Uses quite a bit of ice. Current setting is 1, and doing well.

Worked great until it didn’t
I bought this machine 3 years ago for shoulder surgery. I went through 2 of the shoulder pads. In my opinion the pads should last longer than 2 months. So we packed it up and stored it in the house. Plugged it in this morning and where the hose comes out of the unit it leaks and there’s no fix. For the amount of money you spend it should last much longer than 3 months.

UPDATE - Life saver after shoulder surgery!
UPDATE - While I initially loved this unit, I bought it in mid-June to ensure I had it for my mid-July surgery. Used every day, several times a day and slept with it on at night. The unit just quit working before 30 days had lapsed. It was too late for the Amazon 30 day refund return, so I was required to send it back to the seller to then forward to the Ossur Company for repair/replacement. Cost ME over $36 to send UPS to the California seller! I have yet to receive the unit back… although today the seller replied to my inquiry that I had a replacement coming this week. As I didn’t want to be without a unit for a long period of time while I am undergoing my shoulder surgery recovery, I ordered a new unit from Amazon the same day the other unit quit when I found out I had to send the first one back for warranty work. The 2nd unit is the exact same unit, but a different seller name as my original unit seller was not listed; however, this 2nd unit now with a $30 higher price! I got the 2nd ordered unit in a couple of days on August 11th and began using it several times per day and at night to sleep. It worked as wonderfully as the previous unit (when the first was working), but in less than 2 weeks, this unit quit too!!! RIDICULOUS!!! I notified Amazon immediately and sent that one back for a full refund this time. I have been without a unit now and resorted to ordering large ice packs to use. I do NOT recommend this product anymore. It will NOT hold up to the use it is designed to do per the item description, which is what you purchased it to do. Maybe try another brand? Cryotherapy machines are wonderful after surgery.—————————-This has provided significant relief for my shoulder after my surgery. I was able to recover essentially without pain meds other than occasional Tylenol but I also have a high tolerance to pain. I needed my spouse to help fill the unit & get the cuff on me at first, but as I got further into my recovery, I learned to do it myself… one handed😁. I have slept with the cuff on every night which has helped me sleep. We used small frozen bottles of water - instead of ice. The 16.9 ounce size bottle is too tall to get the lid closed. We kept several in the freezer to change out when some were thawed up after use. It takes about 7 bottles in the unit at a time. The unit has a good seal to keep the water bottles cold a long time…usually about 6 hours or so. This is WELL WORTH THE MONEY for the relief provided!!! Highly recommend this unit.

It's Alive!
I purchased it in mid 2018 for my partner's four orthopedic surgeries. The machine has been idle since last Christmas and I expected (in spite of reviews concerning the untimely death of this machine) it to be ready for her latest surgery on her shoulder yesterday. As the Chief Technology Officer of this household, stupid me didn't test it before her surgery. I plugged it in, turned it on and nothin', stone dead, deceased, gone to sing with the choir invisible, no reassuring humming, passed on, ceased to be, met its maker, bereft of life, no doubt pining for the fjords of Iceland. So with nothing to lose (and no warranty) , armed with phillips screwdrivers, pocket knife, and vice grips I performed a post mortem to determine the cause of its untimely demise. Removing screws supplemented with brute force, I was able to open the carcass and discovered what appeared to be a (Chinese made) 12 volt windshield wiper pump (the beige cylindrical part with a clear hose and a black hose in the attached image) connected to the pump speed controller. As an automotive windshield washer geek, I've often accepted the challenge of resurrecting numerous small motors.... most often by simply banging on them. It seems that small 12 volt motor's brushes can build up oxidation on the cummutator after a period of disuse. The oxidation prevents electricty from doing its thing in the motor. So here's my solution for the Offending Ossur: unplug the power cable, remove the motor, remove the four screws holding the pump body to the motor which will reveal the impeller. With your thumb and middle finger, flick the impeller a couple of times to get it to spin.Plug in the 12volt power supply, turn on the pump speed control and see if the impeller spins. If it does, the repair is done, then reassembleAs the picture shows, I didn't t bother to reassemble it...... I like its guts exposed and its 12volt internals aren't going be a threat. If the repair fails, plant something in it.One final observation: It is very important to purge the copious amounts of air in the pad in order to get cold water to flow properly along all the pad's channels. My "burping" method involves placing the attached coolingpad well below the water level of the tank with the pump running, squeezing and pinching the cooling pad to expell the air. Even after running for several minutes, I watched air bubbles move through the clear plastic return hose in my dissected machine.Hopefully this fix will hold for then next several weeks, then it will be back in storage until the next surgery. Maybe the machine would benefit from a monthly brief fill and run just to avoid the need for another post mortem or becoming a planter.
