This cartridge was a perfect fit for my Staples brand office chair. When you are preparing to remove the old one, prepare for some muscle work! I used a vise grip, pipe wrench, and a hammer. The big pipe wrench gave me the grip and leverage I needed to twist the cartridge out of the base. The wrench was too big to grab the chrome tip near the seat, so I used a vise grip and beat it with a hammer to remove it. Very satisfying! The new cartridge just drops in place. When you place the seat on top and sit down, the installation is done! My chair is like new again.

My original cylinder went out before the chair was a year old. I asked Amazon and they didn't have replacement parts. So, I bought this one to replace it. Getting the old one off is the biggest pain but once I did the rest was easy. It works better than the original. In the end Amazon did right and gave me credit for the purchase price.

Read this. Most people would go out and buy a new chair . This was a very cost effective method to fix my current chair that was in great condition except for the lift. That being said, despite me premeasuring, this size is very tall for a home desk. The lowest setting is almost the height of my old shock, therefore I recommend you measure your old one. I can no longer roll my chair under my desk. I would return it and go through the hassle, but it's hardly worth it. As far as quality, it's good quality. And, I replaced my old one in less than one minute by following the video tutorials.

I'm a very tall and sitting that low to the floor at my desk feels like was losing circulation in my legs, lol. Cheers for bringing new life to my chair. I came across a Herman Miller Aeron at a used furniture store for less than $100, and since I had been considering getting one, and a good refurbished one still costs $400-$600, I figured it was worth a show fixing it up. The cylinder in the air didn't work, and would slowly settle down to the bottom with any weight on it, so I bought the chair, this cylinder, and a new set of casters all in for less than $150.The hardest part about the whole thing was getting the old cylinder off of the chair (I ended up using a hammer to loosen it after getting nowhere with a pipe wrench). From there, it just took a minute to get the new cylinder in and then get the height adjustment lever properly adjusted.I can't speak to the long term use of this cylinder yet, but so far, about 2 months in, I haven't had any issues.

Original bought the chair from biglots at local store, chair from day one has these issue where moment i sat in drop bought half inch and popped up when i got up it also creep down slowly at random whiling sitting in it, i ignored it cause was not bad and the chair was comfortable in last month starting 5-01-2023 it start sinking 1-2 inchs just from me sitting in it and sinking while sitting in it alot to point i would have pull the lever just to make go back up which wasn't making it go up ( had to pull up) On 6-10-2023 the lift was lost on cylinder. So I bought it next day it was sale go figure.New cylinder works great for now ( and i hope permanently), I only way 110lbs this rated for 1000lbs so this should have zero issue any time soon i hope. Seeing I spent 30 minutes the other day just removing the old cylinder, This was easy to install, put one end into wheel side and other in to chair ( dont forget to remove cap on top cylinder so will go up when pulling the lever). Now the chairs max height was bout 1" higher then the old cylinder, but I adjusted it to height needed, I now have zero drop in height when I sit in it. and staying at height i need.Was not really happy that box that cylinder was in was open cylinder fell out box as grab box out brown bag it was in and plastic bag the cylinder was in was open too the rest of plastic bag in it where sealed. And seeing as I need cylinder I just use it as it didnt look damagedIf it goes bad I will update
