Solid heavy duty connectors, no leaks, easy to tighten, what more do you need. Much better than the plastic ones

I have a large Hose reel by Hozelock. I put a Hozelock connecter on the hose and attached the hose to the central fitting on the reel. All was fine until I switched off the water at the gun. Then the Hozelock connecter blew off and water was everywhere. I tried other makes of fitting but all blew off. I got the brass fitting Spear & Jackson BWF6 Female Brass Hose Connector with Water Stop, Bronze. Wow, so well made, no push on and hope with this. To put it on you pull back the outer lock, put it in place on the reel, then push the lock forward. This was easily the strongest fit I have ever used. I will never use plastic again. No more pop offs.

After constantly replacing Hozelock connectors (even the metal-body Pro’s - they still fail to latch after a while), this has the durability I was after. There are only two downsides after a month or two of testing - the securing ring that clamps the hose in has a tendency to loosen after a while (allowing a bit of a leak) but that’s easy to keep on top of. The other ‘issue’ is that you *will* get soaked if you try to connect a tool while this is under pressure. Easy fix is obviously to turn the tap off - easy unless you are 30m down the garden and want to use another tool. Overall, I’ll take the robustness and inconvenience over the frailty and convenience of the Hozelock connectors.

I love it. I know it sounds a bit strange to love a hose pipe attachment, but this is a proper made, solid brass, hefty nice piece of kit. Not plasticky or waffy. and won't hang around in a landfill for millions of years. It just feels quality. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, so Christ knows if it actually works as it should. However it does look very cool.

Plastic connectors seem to deteriorate when left in the sun, so tried this metal version. Feels solid to the touch, plus easy to connect. The water stop function means that if you pull off e.g. a spray gun device, the water will stop flowing out - making it easy to connect a different device. NB - you need to pull down on the shaft to insert/remove a device - to begin with I thought that my existing spray gun would not fit. Decent price, so can recommend.

Well fit to its spray gun. Having used for almost a year, no water leakage from the connection. Pricewise a bit high.

Works perfectly paired with the same brand connector on the tap. No leaks at all and seems robust.
