THIS IS NOT AN OPERA
It seems that I am not the only one to think I was buying an early opera featuring La Callas, What a mistake to make, but as a film it is quite good but a bit too gory for me in places

Finally, a good outcome
There were problems with the supply and delivery of this item. When it wasn't delivered by the end of the 6-week window given, I advised the supplier who presumed it must have been lost in delivery and promised to re-ship. It arrived within a week of this advice - whether this was the original shipment or a new delivery, is not clear but in the end the product arrived so I feel the service given met my requirements.

Very nice but faulty
Very nice but faulty. Subtitles did not work and English audio did not work either ns Amazon does not seem to understand the difference between returning something you do not want and something which is faulty.

The Legend! Maria Callas
An interesting film of one of the most important diva's of the opera world. Whilst there is no powerful music vocals in this production, the production and stage craft of La Diva is undisputed. What a pity that only a few of this remarkable woman's appearances on stage managed to be recorded in film or video. If you have the opera recording of Callas in Medea Medea (Dallas Opera 1958) it is a good introduction to the film. Made more for the fan of 'La Diva', but still worth watching.

Overated tosh!
The costumes, photography and Maria Callas are all wonderful. Unfortunately the screen play (very loosely based on Euripides) editing and action are all poor. If you just want a film version of Medea do not buy this.

One of the greatest films of Pasolini whose magnificent and panoramic vision of the mythic source of Euripides' tragedy is totally compelling. Pasolini's attention to historical detail, including costume and music; is extraordinary Callas in the title role shows herself to be a great actress especially as the film nears its appalling and inevitable end

Pier Paulo Pasolini
This classic film adaptation of Euripedes play Medea starring the legendary Maria Callas has had the audio recording carefully restored. Anyone who is interested in this ancient play may like to see the new National Theatre Production which will be screened in theatres around the country in early September.
