A reissue of 'Delicate Sound of Thunder' from Pink Floyd, the first time available on this format for over twenty years and is the band's first live album. Recorded live over five nights in August 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, NY, 'Delicate Sound of Thunder' became infamous for being the first rock album to be played in outer space. Review: Itโs simply fantastic for a concert filmed over 30 years ago! - Ok so this was in the later years box set, and some will call out with some justification that this looks like profiteering from the same content. That said, the later years box set is supplied with poor quality sleeves and this at least turns up looking something like a blu ray release should do. And the transfer is glorious. Plenty of work has gone into selecting different camera angles and footage not seen on the original VHS and laserdisc release. I owned both and it beggars belief how much better this is than the original big silver disc version. It also sounds great - and whilst its not cheap, this is at least a quality product with plenty of effort made to do justice to an excellent release. My only complaint is that I imagine there is other footage from the missing tracks found on the newly expanded CD release. In particular, welcome to the machine sounds fresh on the updated CD and that would have been nice to see on the dvd. But overall, owning the updated music and film content is a must for fans of this era of pink floyd. Review: Superb re-release sounding better and with bonus tracks. What's not to like :-)) - Great re-release of the classic Pink Floyd live album with a new mix (involving David Gilmour himself) and extra tracks make this an essential purchase. Listening to it on good headphones is a must. I'm listening to it as I type and hope that perhaps we will get PULSE at some time in thee future..... Maybe :-))) Just a note of caution: I Pre-Ordered this items a while ago and got the Pre-Release Guarantee that I would pay the lowest price between the date of my order and the date of release. I paid over ยฃ17 on the Friday only to find it reduced by over ยฃ4 the next day!!! Customer Care understood my frustration but could only offer me a full, refund if I returned it... Just disappointed :-((

Great picture and sound
This was bought for me as a Christmas 2020 present by my wife.. I can only say how impressed I was by the quality of the whole production IE watching on a 75 inch LG with a Canton soundbar... this is as close to high definition as you will get for a 1988 concert. Fantastic sound too. The editing , close shots and surprisingly sharp imageary is great. I don't think the grain, if it worries you... detracts much or at all... it adds atmosphere in my view and is really acceptable.. the low light detail is very good too. We have got too used to big screens and detail in modern concert Blu-rays. The cameras are better and better now too in recent years but really it's all in the editing etc. This film is great in that regard. We have to remember this was originally filmed 32 years ago on 35mm Agfa? . In my view the whole film is far superior to more recent concert Blu-rays. Even beating the far more recent David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall (2006) Blu-ray which was poorly put together in my view especially the low light shots... And poor cameras too. This Blu-ray is totally recommended. A great concert recording even if it has been re-edited etc ( only for the better it seems!). So what! Great recording to own and watch again and again...

Better than the original
I remember the Wembley Stadium concerts on this tour back in 1988 and those shows were a few weeks before this set was recorded. Before the show started the sound of barking dogs swept around the stadium, coming from all angles and it was a weird, but very Floyd opening to what was a fantastic musical and visual treat. i found the Delicate Sound live album a bit dull by comparison. It didn't convey the visuals of course, or the atmosphere and the recording did lack something. Only when I saw this reissue did I realise what that was, and it was the additional tracks, which allow the show to be paced way better than before. It's a top notch recording and so much the better for the additional music. It's a nice CD package too with some excellent photos, so all in all an improvement and a great trip down memory lane.

Ha ha another missed oppurtunity you are!
Pink Floyd records do have a nerve, sure its nice in 180gm vinyl, but again like most remasters of previously issued stuff it's another wasted opportunity and laziness from Pink Floyd. Nothing new here. Sounds great of course. But it's so incomplete a 2hr 30min live show crammed into 90mins of audio is why us fans still seek out bootlegs guys. Your just not getting it. The Immersion boxset being a prime example. What the he'll happened with "The Wall" one? You had the audacity to include like 2 mins of video from the 80/1 live shows for what reason??? We all know the complete show exists in decent quality shot on film! So why not include it in the over priced box? To include a couple of minutes of film was this a tease? As you needn't had bothered guys, your just further alienating your customers to seek out bootlegs on the net from all these companies that are now pressing there own cds and dvds nicking the content from real fans communities. This release is in no way complete, as lovely as the packaging is, it's still missing around an hours worth of songs to make it a complete live document of the 1987-89 Tour. Even the film that accompanied this release has STILL yet to be released officially on DVD. Come on PF records, listen to the fans, and pull your fingers out!

Hi Quality Remixed Sound Recording
This CD takes me back to the Wembley concert I attended that was part of this tour series. This remixed recording is a big improvement on the previous version. The recording is much more dynamic and lively with good clarity and the deep bass at times is especially noteworthy. If you are hesitant about a live recording being as good as a studio version donโt be in this case. I have a very revealing HiFi system (Naim CD & power supply with ATC amps and speakers) and this recording does not disappoint in any way.

Good Stuff!
Finally the full Delicate Sound of Thunder tour in its full glory. Even if you already have the Record/CD released many, many years ago (or the rubbish VHS) this is definitely worth buying also. The recordings issued years ago were 'polished-up' versions of the live performances. This CD (and the blu-ray) are the warts and all performance, including the live errors and mistakes. It truly provides the full show in its full glory. The addition of the missing tracks omitted from the original release makes this the complete experience. If you're a fan, or indeed saw one of the shows at the time, buy both this and the blu-ray.
